It seems that these 2 rubbers have similar characteristics. I usually open the game with a b/h loop and then I use backhand for flat shots and pushes.
Which one do you think is better for backhand?

Tenergy 64 is a beast, but if you don't have a good skill, it is not easy to control. Boost TP is easier to control and better in the short game, chop and push.

Boost TP is the spinless kind of t64. tp and t64 are about the same top end speed but tp got more gears. TP is not that bouncy on slow strokes, ıts not a tensioned top sheet kind a rubber. But TP topsheet cant produce enough spin. When you swing hard its very good but... ıf you tend to take ball early(proggresive) or ıf you like to use your opponents spin than tp is not for you. With TP there is so little reaction to opponents spin. Its easy to push serves but its not easy to push serves real good-tight and effective. So if you're playing a safe game, if you hit the ball on the highest point or if you're not 2000+ player than tp is way to go. But if you're experienced and if you know hot to deal with the spin than t64 is a heaven. Well ectually t64=bryce with 1 coat of speed glue thats it...

Tsubasa, I think I understand what you mean. TP seems to be just a harder version of TC. I like tensioned top sheet kind of rubbers for my backhand. Also I tend to take the ball early and I use opponents spin. I don't like to hit the ball on the highest point but very early, immediately after the ball rebound.
So, your descriptions were very clear. Tenergy 64 is the way to go. Thanks a lot!

My samples of TP and TC had definitely different topsheets, TP being decently grippy, TC had very very little grip, less than most Tensors.

So Skyline, you are a TP user and agree with Tsubasa...
The critical thing for my backhand is after the opening loop, to hit the ball very early, immediately after the ball rebound. Also I like tensioned topsheet for b/h on contrary to f/h.
After reading Tsubasa, I see that TP has the same mushy effect of TC (harder though), which is completely unsuitable for my b/h.

I hit the ball very early also before the highest point, I don't agree with Tsubasa at all. TP doesn't have the same mushy effect of TC at all. It's hard and very stable. If you like close to the table quick counters and flat shots TP is the way to go. T64 felt a lot more mushy than TP. TP has a very nice low throw while T64 has a high throw. T64 was good for looping but for fast flat play off the bounce Boost TP  is MUCHH Better. Also the crap about pushing Tsubasa not true at all. I can push very sharp with Boost TP.

Ehm I didnt say TP has the same mushy feel like TC. But TP topsheet isnt grippy enough for me. Yes if you like to hit, block or flat loop than tp is good and yes if you can wait you can do some brush looping too.
But t64 is much grippier and feels alive like a reglued rubber. So I can do some aggresive off the bounce topspins without any problem.. But I couldnt do any with TP. I had to open my racket angle then hit it or drive...

About pushing: I like to win some cheap points with pushing. Just vary the spin, do some sharp low spinny pushes you know... and TP was not good for me. If you love to push and win some cheap points than tenergy 05 is MUCH better then any other japanese or tensor stuff but t64 is good too and considerably better than TP in this part of the game.

My understanding is that on a regular blade T64 2.1 is 50 gr or heavier while Boost TP is closer to 40 grams. I can't wait confirmation as I am thinking about going TP 2.0 bh.

Yes, I'm thinking TP 2.0 (as my TC) & T64 2.1, both for backhand.

I think difference is about 7gr not 5 or not 10. t64 is a little bit lighter than t05.

I know nothing about Tenergy 64, but have been playing with Boost TP (2.0) on BH, and I agree with Skyline's comments on TP - quoted above.  TP is quite fast, has a medium-firm sponge and is very competent in all aspects of the game.  I found it suprisingly predictable for such a fast rubber - somewhat similar to a lightly glued Mendo MP, which is my all time favorite during the pre glue ban era.

Perhaps some of the issues with generating spin that some pointed out might relate to the fact that the rubber has low throw and firm sponge, so players not used to it might have a tendency to hit the net on some shots, which could be interpreted by them as lack of spin.

Also, having gone through two sheets of TP I noticed that it took 2-3 sessions for the rubber to "break-in".

Not only one agrees with you Skyline! Some other agree with you, out of this forum. Don't worry. Smile. Some others agree with Tsubasa.
Yesterday, I had the chance to test T64 on Korbel blade and on Ishlion blade.
On Korbel the feeling was not good (b/h). On the other hand, on Ishlion the performance of the T64 was very good (b/h)!!! Both T64 were new.
So, I decided to try both T64 and TP on my Schlager Carbon, after some days. The lighter, TP first. Schlager Carbon is not the lightest blade in the world...

Try it with playing matches not some backhand drill. Because in training you'll know whats gonna happen but in a real match you'll keep recieve nasty balls and t64 comes good in that part.

tusaba...

probably you have excellent BH skills... and probably samsonov alpha is comparatively slower than my av j-aramid.  and probably you play a littel away from the table.

with this blade.. t-64 is extremely fast and coupled with lower spin ... the over the table game suffers a lot. when i try opening loops... the balls with lower spin and higher speed don't dip much and goes flying out of the table.

Debraj, I think it has to do with the throw angle of the blades. With Korbel I had the some problem with you. Also, the T64 had a mushy feeling.
On Ishlion, although faster and harder than Korbel, the ball didn't fly out of the table and the mushy feeling of T64 had gone!

My bh is not perfect at all. My strokes are short and I'm lazy.
I've played with j-aramid blade with tuned omegaII(just half an hour) and blade felt like its really fast but its a flexy and high throw blade. But you can get used to it. I was using bryce with tons of glue and when I swithced to tenergy 05 my blocks were terrible for 1-2 weeks. Than I got used to it now its just fine. So probobly you'll be fine too...

ps:yes j-aramid is much faster than samsonov alpha

I tested T64 on my blade yesterday. The performance on backhand was good.
Of course more time is needed to tell if Schlager Carbon and T64 work well together.
