Dr Boz's Fat 40 has had a face lift.  Cabothane coated pure Balsa with eye boggling handle.  This thing has zero flex but huge dwell time at a whopping 40 grams.

Recommended rubbers for such a light rubber:

Donic max f3 bigslam about 35 grams each.

I have been able to whip continuously looping insane stroke with so much spin for ages.  It might have something to do with how soft the whole setup is?

I haven't tried it against players better than me yet, but against my normal crew of practise partners, I destroyed them more than I ever have before.

Even if they eventually got used to spin and throw and could block these back I could just keep loopin and looping and looping everything.

One of my friends thought it was faster than my usual set up.  This is mind boggling to hear.  Although I totally agree with the concept of lighter rubbers playing faster more often than "fast" heavier rubbers pulling off a 1 off speed wonder and soft slow blocking again...

stay tuned if I decide to try it in serious competition.

I used to play Big slam. It's definately the softest and loudest setup around. I know several people who are suspected of glueing in these glue-less times :P

When you let go, does it fall down or float up?

"lightest legal setup"?

wouldn't a mini blade with ittf approved short pips be the lightest legal setup?

I should have said lightest looping bat

the throw angle is weird, You have to really rip upwards hard compared to playing tenergy on any blade.  That is why you can creat so much insane spiin.  If you ripped up that hard with tenergy it would hit the roof.

Anyway after more play with it today, I came to more rational conclusion that I will never use it for serious competition.

Oh well another silly bat in my collection.

Not yet Boz! I think you're onto something here and just needs to be refined a little for it to be feasible. Since you're able to keep the beautiful feeling of the 1ply while at the same time fixing its two main problems: head heaviness and thickness. The very light weight of the overall setup would allow quicker wrist movements and so neither problem are an issue anymore.

Its a marshmellow alright, I must admit I tried it with shellite, which is the most extreme form of speedglue you can go, and this thing is faster than any blade in that state.  I suppose the balsa absorbs the voc and it feels as if the whole blade not just the rubbers has speedglue effect.  the sound really is dam ridiculous.

It feels as if the blade can fly and im sure i put it on water it wouldnt sink

tommy If I put my yasaka cobalt shot pips 0x and stiga destroyer long pips ox

whos bat will be lighter then hay?

the whole setup comes to 70 grams but I cant loop with it.  But I must say the pips do become more playable with a drive on this bat because it give loads of dwell time.

Yeahr, it would be close. You got me beat because mine is oversized. My Dr. N High Tech is 48g. I have an 802-40/1.8/30 on FH and Dr. Evil/OX on BH. My scale is down, but this setup is probably well under 100g.

cheers, you can have a hit with it you come to Australia....

For the defenders or combi players who dont go for super speed, I trully recommend this setup, with long pimples on one side.  f3 is super easy to smash with as its throw when flat hitting is about 90 degrees to the blade so super for smash, for looping its almost impossible to go too long and for whipping your wrist and following up with a fake action its trully unbeatable.

For people who say heavier is better for spinny serves, I say:

try whipping your wrist like your playing drums and then try whipping your wrist with a brick in your hand and tell me which you can whip up after the whip down faster....

http://www.juic.co.jp/product/racket/air_carbon.html

Not a one ply but is just about as thick and has paper thin carbon and outer ply... big slam would be ridiculously loud on this I bet. I was thinking about getting this blade, spin is awesome, but it was too fast for my game.

I went in the other night with 5 setups:
my usual combo ishlion ... Ive written enough about why this one is good
t11 with old red tenergy 05 and pf4
this one however is starting to take my interest again.  Want to try f3bs on it next on one side, the tenergy rockets on this

FAT 40 f3bs
great at first but then started to find it started to lack enough power

jonyer bryce speed and tenergy 05
sheik with 729, dipper II soft

red were worst

I changed set up after every game I won
