    Posted: 03/19/2009 at 5:16am
Hi guys, I visited a TT store few days ago and out of curiosity weighed 4 remaining Maze A/C that they have.  Guess what?  3 of them are 93 gr and 1 of them is 94 gr.  I never experience this kind of thing when weighing blades.  For example, weighing Korbel, it ranges from 91 gr to 102 gr!!!

Now, I remember that Jolan and Speedy have Maze A/C with just ~85 grams.  I am curious, can I find 85 gr Maze A/C?  I visited another store who has just 1 Maze left on the stock.  I weighed it and guess what?  It is 93 gr again !!!  It is so consistent, makes me think that it is probably impossible to get 85 gr Maze A/C (new, not used).  Probably those 93gr blades came from the same batch.

So can all Maze owners tell me what is the weight of your Maze A/C ??  It makes me curious.

Thanks.

I have had 4 maze's all flared handle.

They weigh 87, 88, 89, and 89.

It's interesting that you mentioned the weights being way.  The other day my dad opened a regular timo boll that is supposed to weigh 91gr and it only weighed 78gr.

Someone's already picked the lighter Maze's out of their stock and all that's left are the 93g ones.

Blades can vary in weight.

Just ask around on some of the online stores and you should find a weight you like. That's a common blade.

Thank you guys for your info.

Well, I am not that picky to have exactly 85 gr.  My blades collection range from 75 - 93 gr.  So I think it's OK to get a 93 gr Maze.  I will see how it plays.

I am rather jealous though to see that everybody can get lighter one Disapprove

I've had one briefly which was 101g...! Behaving like a hard rocket, unplayable. I've visited 2 shops, weighting 12 blades. None of them was under 90g. That's why, when I saw this second hand 85g on sale, I seized it quickly. It behaves very differently from the hard rocket 101g. Much smoother, still fast but very controllable. Good at everything. I train with it everyweek and I'm thinking about playing official competition as well. I thank again the seller . I've red somewhere that it has an hollow handle. Does someone can confirm this ?

Yes, if I am not wrong, it was Silvalis (Silver) who first mentioned it.

In conclusion, both Maze and TBS are "partially hollow" as explained below:
Maze is "hollow" (has hole in the wood that is a continuous part of the head), but the 2 woods that form the grip is solid.
TBS is not "hollow", but the 2 woods that form the grip is hollow.  Much like Dicon or Senso.

That's why I was afraid of getting a heavy Maze.  From my experience, a blade >90 gr with hollow handle tends to be head heavy.  But I also heard that Maze is very balanced.

Now, isn't it funny that you weighed 12 blades and could not find anything below 90 gr while I did the same with 5 blades and they were consistently 93 gr, AND all the people above have Maze below 90 gr?   Damn...... !!!!

Maze with Glued Bryce Fx is a very good combo.
Maze is more suitable for soft rubber other wise it will become head heavy. ST handle might not as head heavy as FL handle I think.
