Hi Brian,
Thanks for the video! Wow, not only were they exciting but it's good to see some people that I actually knew. At the start, you were interviewing Ly Le and I think that was Walt Wintermute that said he wasn't playing. I spend some time in the Raleigh, NC area and I see those guys sometimes. That goes for Jim McQueen and Chris O'Brian as well. I believe I've seen Chris on some of your review videos... from your former associates that is
I liked the match between Amaresh Sahu and John Wetzler. I've told Amaresh once that he needs to set a good benchmark (around 2500-2600) before he starts college. Because at that time, training slooooows down quite a bit. He said he'll consider my advice if in return, I add more legs to my loops
Wang Zhen looked like he was bored playing against Michael Landers. I like watching Michael play. I wonder if he's jumped the Tenergy bandwagon because he used speed glued Bryce.
As for your present relationship with Butterfly NA (or your new name for them, USA Reseller? ), Let me play devil's advocate for a moment. Like any big business, they're concerned about two things: assets and liabilities. For the first one, I think that they wanted to protect their "exclusive" rights for the tournament. I'm assuming they had this for the Cary Cup? Joola does this too in their tournaments. Whether they had a training video or not was immaterial. Perhaps it was just business but maybe also ego on their part. You know them better than me. Also, after a "divorce" some emotions get involved and... well, you know the rest.
As for liabilities, I think they didn't want to be responsible for some kid trying a backflip after watching your training video
Like Speedy, I wish to offer you some Pho (my treat!) the next time I'm in Raleigh. But only if you grace us "little people" with your presence in some of Mike Babuin's smaller tournaments.

Thanks for your post, and you raise some interesting statements playing Devil's Advocate, and I'll try to shed some light on this from my side. Butterfly does not have an exclusive rights to being a sponsored. I think they are the unofficial title sponsor. Newgy is a sponsor and there were Newgy barriers all over the place. What made this difficult for me is I supported all the local tournaments that the tournament director ran in Cary. I would come to the tournament, pay my $40.00, beat a bunch of 1900-2000 players, win a $7.00 trophy, waste 7 hours, then go home without winning any prize money or rating points. I did that in the support of NC Table Tennis. I retired in 2004, and I came out of retirement twice and both time were to come and play the Cary Cup, because the tournament director personally contacted me. So, it was a shock for me not to be supported back. I even went as far to say can we donate $1000.00 to the juniors at the tournament. We want to be a part of the progression of table tennis especially with me being from this area. The answer was no. They didn't want us there, and I know the real reason. What I am gives more credibility, especially if I'm selling a product. I worked for the company, so I know their approach. They wanted me do videos to push their product, because I give credibility. I still stand by what I did for them, and I still use Butterfly equipment right now. So, I'm not the one walking around bitter, because I own my existence. If you been reading, then you already know about the Butterfly story, so I won't rehash that. If I had a booth I would probably have sold 50 videos, and furthered the DTT Movement, and it does not help table tennis when I'm trying to be cut out by the people I have supported my entire career. I felt like It is way of treating me like an indentured servant, only I'm not an indentured servant. I got the most nasty response with I suggested they could buy my training videos from me. You will never see my training videos on their website, and it is because I was their indentured servant. You will see reflex sports, the Danny Seemiller Book, the Larry Hodges book, as well as Alpha Table Tennis. See, that is just a shame. It proves that upper-management is bitter, because I'm just 1 guy and tremendous amount of energy has been spent to disrupt me. But it is a movement, and it cant' be stopped. The reason that they should holster their ego is I'm not going anywhere. The Great Crusades happened in the 1200's when they went around trying to erase the bible form existence. The USA Sellers are acting like they own the sport, and the sport belongs to us. When I was a kid at the Detroit Team I used to see rows and rows of venders selling their equipment, and what we see present does not help the sport at all. If you are at the Baltimore Teams and there is no Donic supplier there, you are not going to buy Joola rubber. Cutting out all the vendors from setting up booths does not help the sport, and the USA Seller have the same attitude now. Like I said before, the sport is already treated 2nd class, and the culture needs to change and it would be nice to see the companies do it first. Everything about what I am if 1st class, and the USA Sellers know that. Go and look at what I have done with the videos on their website. So you can see it is bitterness on their part to treat me this way. This DTT Movement is only going to get better, and when it does you won't see me making negative statements about Danny Seemiller's video. I hope he does well. I hope he succeeds with his venture, as I hope he would hope I would also. The companies are making money hand over foot, and now that I have positioned myself to tap into that money, their are road blocks put to stop me. But I have been knocking down road blocks my entire life, and this one is not different than the rest. Deep Thoughts Brian |

Hi BP.
Just wondering, did you have a contract with BTY? How long?
Is having your own tournament and collect booth fee from those companies possible? If someone can, I know it's you.
BTW. It'd good to have a nice guy like Rocky on your team.
Cary is AWESOME. It'd be a perfect tourny if there was more room between tables in 1st rd. Play with 8-10 players in the same level was a blast. Definitely going again next year.
Speedy's hitting is indeed super fast.

Brian, everything you said about basically getting screwed over just depresses me. Because you know that the attitude they had with you and with money doesn't just stop there. I'm sure there are plenty of others in america just like it. It's movements like yours that represent steps in the right direction. Thank you for doing what you're doing.
P.S. What's Pho? lol

My entire career has been with Butterfly. The owner of the company taught me how to play, and was a big influence on my career the first 2 years. Because of that I stayed with them for my entire career as a player. I never went to another company, and nor have I asked for money. I thought if I keep improving that they would reward me. I was later told that they just overlooked me. So that was the indentured servant attitude.
But they don't own me as a coach, and that is the attempt that they made. After the deal went sour with Butterfly, Rocky was the only person that I talked to. We signed the deal to be partners over spicy tofu. No contracts, no lawyers. Just 2 guys that said, "Let's present a New Movement", so hang on because it's going to be awesome. Brian |

Thanks a bunch for the support. Don't be suppressed Beeray, we are going to win. Let me tell you something about winning. I achieved my highest rating of 2612 working 35 hours a week at Blockbuster, and 35 hours week at a Bike Shop. Most people are looking at the rating to gauge who I am, but the real thing to look at is the extraordinary effect that it takes to pull off something so ambitious. Rocky Wang, Todd Sweeris, and Sean Lonergan looked at me amazed. I have never told that story, and it happened in 1996. Winning is in the attitude, and I have never failed at something I have put my heart into. Table Tennis is what I do, it's what I know. I am Table Tennis. We have a really ambitious movement, and what we are doing is going to change the way table tennis is presented. The training videos is going to offer us the leverage to do the things we want to expand the movement. That is why it took such a long time to get the videos done, because they had to be so beautifully done that it will change the way that videos are done. When the entire movement is presented I guarantee that you will be thinking 1 thing, "P. Diddy". I will make a promise right here that I will always stay connected to my real family, and that is the "Pong Junkies" that are on this forum. If this is success it will be because you guys bought into the movement. This is the movement that will be televised Stay tuned, it's going to get better. Gotta get back to editing video PS Pho is one of the most popular Vietnamese dishes, and Rocky turned me on to it about 1 year ago, and now my wife and I eat it 2 to 3 times a week. Pacer Out |

Yeah man. Rocky is my main man, and we have been friends since the very beginning. You see me as the main person on the site, and Rocky has chosen to be a semi-silent partner, but you will see more of him as this thing progresses

Nah man. Stefan Feth is a really cool guy, and I got a chance to work directly with him, as I shot, edit, produced his 1st Series of his training videos with Butterfly.
He's a really classy guy. He is very soft spoken, and you will like him inside of 30 seconds. I'm just not fond of the company that gave him the clothes. Brian |

I'm not sure how he left Joola, but I know he has a monster contract with the USA Sellers. I'm happy for him as a player, but sad for the other coaches that don't have any kind of financial contract to be a coach. Even more sad for 99% of the players that don't have any type of financial contract. Signing a big deal with one player does not help the culture of US Coaches or Players. They have bought into the concept of giving out a big contract to 1 players. All the more reason to own your existence.
Ralph Preseley is running a tournament in Atlanta on May 2nd, and he has invited me there. If I can get away I will go. Brian |

Just went to the BTY NA website and was surprised to see this. Looks like the "USA Resellers" and Mr. Pace have signed a peace agreement?

Brian has been very quiet recently, no videos for July/August on his website and no videos on YouTube since June 10th. Hope everything is going well for him.

Part of the deal was a gag order
You want the video? Gotta put up some cash, playa coz BTY NA has to get paid
But really, it's good that Brian got this deal. No matter how hard he promotes his video on forums like these, it takes lots of time and capital to get brand recognition... which BTY NA has.

Hey Guys
I'm in the middle of finishing a "Part 2" to the first Interview I did with Rick, at www.atlantatabletennis.com. I would be on this forum forever is I was trying to explain myself to every person individually. Brian |

Brian,
You don't have to explain anything to all the clowns in this forum (including me )
Go make yourself some money, playa. Ain't no shame in that. You got a family to feed. Sure, FL is state tax free but they get you in the property taxes, tourist taxes (if you buy stuff at Disney World et al) and *gulp* home insurance which skyrocketed after Katrina. Of course, it was all a bunch of bulls**t because they didn't need to do that. Warning: BeaverMD soapbox. The insurance companies got scared, which also scared the Fed govt. because if insurance companies go bankrupt, they have to bail them out. So the Feds allowed these companies to charge really exorbitant rates for states affected by hurricanes. However, it wasn't the hurricane itself that destroyed 90% of New Orleans. It was the levees breaking because they had serious problems that were never addressed in the past. Anyway, I'll stop here but basically, it was a nice excuse for insurance executives to fatten up their wallets.
But back to you. Yeah, keep up those videos. Go collaborate with BTY Japan so you can have them translated like the Boll, Schlager and Kreanga tutorial videos. Go get some juniors so they can wear "DTT brought to you by Butterfly" on the back of their jerseys. Try introducing yourself to the African market. They might like to see brothas on videos. The possibilities are endless. Jay-Z said four words before he started a show - Pay Me My Money
