Nice footage Lildude. Its not flashy, but your bh is solid. That's what makes your game strong.

That woman is pretty good. You are definitely in another league from those other two. Do you have any footage of you playing people better or the same level as you?

Yes she is pretty good.

She was the number one junior girl in the caribbean I believe. She has only played 1 tournament in the US so far so her rating isn't accurate yet. When she is playing well she is probably close to 2000. She beats level 2000 players I know that.

The chopper I played was once top 30 in the country. He is pretty old and is still over 1700. He is still a GREAT player for his age. I know he is in his 70's, now sure how old though.

The guy in the black, well...if he wants to speak up, you will know who he is.

Gender separated? In the US? Since when?

Usually in tournaments dont the women play separate from the men? Like in pro tour? I guess not in the US.

Open means open. Women also have their own events, but anyone plays in open. You need to get out and play in some tournaments no matter what level you are.

Well open doesnt mean open. Look at the US Open for example. JD have you considered possibly doing U-2100 next?

Wish I did.

I didn't get footage of the 1950 I beat 3-1, or the finals of the U2000. Didn't have a camera....

I have another tournament in April and I will most definitely get a quality camera and show you all some full matches. It won't be a highlight video....meaning, you all can see me mess up! Which happens a lot too....

Nice! I haven't enjoyed a video like this in a while. Great Job!

What I am surprized to see is that your opponents did not use any strategy against you. They played you thinking that whatever they were doing is good enough....

All the points were the same, once the ball ended up on a forehand side, you went in for the kill. It was really silly seeing how they kept all serving long to you.... At 2000 level, I don't think players should be this lenient with usage of  shot serves.

The chopper was not consistent enough unfortunately. He rarely brought 2 of the loops back. I guess that's a hell of a spin on the ball...

Great job!

WTG JDS. Even with the not so much disguise, your serves are setting  you up to do what you like - start looping at a high percentage. It gets even better when you can fool the opponent on the ammont or type of spin. You get free points outright or real easy putaways. It isn't hurting you ATM. Your serves don't lose you any points. It's just another thing to think about and work on. You already talked about needing to loopdrive a few more instead of medium looping. You loopdrive some of those at top of bounce and you are even more unstoppable. You are doing so many of the little things right to make your shots solid and high %, like moving well, anticipating, good balance/follow through, bent wrist, elbow tuck to name just a few. They make a world of difference and obviously you were able to put in the work to develop that. WTG. You make me wish I could get better training.

looks good dude, i think you can break the 2000 barrier very soon! one thing I would say is that you might want to rethink your receive position just because it looks kind of awkward but if it is effective and natural then you might not need to do so...

I will chime in!

That was me!

I play Jeffrey probably around 2-3 times a week and i missed sooo many blocks against him at the tournament so i couldn't understand it.  I thought my paddle was being wanky as i was using a pretty old sheet of Tenergy 05 on FH.

Upon further review, he was just playing like a monster that day  ;)

Actually, he was using my 6th month old sheet of tenergy that I used to have on my mizutani:)

It still has some life left in it, but as much as I play, 6th months for a rubber is a LONG time.

Notgood, I saw you at the Arnold. You will have a good game. You just need to be more consistent with your hits. You have a very good BH when it lands.
Was that girl at the Arnold also? If it was her she didn't look like the same girl I saw. She wasn't playing good at all in the vid. She play very well at the Arnold. I know she beat a +2000 and a few +1900 players also.
And Dude, you do have a good game. And with time you will get better.
Any of ypou guys going to the St.Joes in South Bend this weekend? Notgood, maybe we can hookup for a hit again.

I could see that you get unbalanced sometimes. Other than that I think you are good. If my coach was still here, he'd say the same thing.

Thank you.  Still have a long way to go and a lot of work to do before my game is good.

That was the same girl.  She has her ups and downs and she definitely seems to play better against certain styles.

I will not be going to St. Joes.  I was originally planning on it, but unfortunately...things didn't work out that way.

I like your playing style, because it seems to revolve around control.  Your services are also very good for your level, sometimes look like Liqin's.  Something you may or may not have thought of is if you try to focus on catching the ball higher off the bounce, your forehand will be much more potent in speed, and you could win points easier, but then again.. the video would have been a little more boring Smile Good Work!
that's a rip!
