And actually, I don't like that one heavy streak going down the mid-left side of the racket.  If I had that racket (in a hinoki) I would discount it if it were a one ply.  I don't suppose it makes much difference in a thin outer ply.

Juniper is a rather commonly spread type of wood, grows in Asia, Europe, North America - same family as cypress. Usually much cheaper but generally of a lower quality than cypress. You really need to search for proper juniper timber suitable for table tennis blades.

See... they will know, that is good for blade. I would think it is with all woods ... You find nice looking piece of timber and then make whatever ... I may look into JUNIPER blade, as I like a look, and I heard it is stiff and fast for blades. Will see ...

Juniper is actually a somewhat misleading translation by Chinese sellers/manufactures for Hinoki (and other relatives in the same family or Chamaecyparis genus) back into English.  Most of them actually use Port Orford-cedar (POC), yellow cedar or red cedar (from US or Canada) to substitute for real Hinoki that only grows in Japan.

Certainly.  You can source from many types of plants/tress for bonsai.  Juniper is just being one of them.  I have seen people use oak, elm, cypress, wisteria etc for bonsai.
