Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you know if you thought about this at all. Instead of slipping shoe after shoe when you get out of the car and put on your nice Joola, Butterfly, Mizuno...etc.

Instead, try this:

-Get a pair of slippers that are the same size as your playing shoes.
-When you are on the playing surface, take your slippers off and resume play

I just thought about this like 2 weeks ago.

Just wondering what everyone thinks about this. Plz reply back with your thoughts.

My regular shoes are slip-on loafers with no laces.  I typically walk into tournament venues in my stocking feet and put my shoes on inside.  I also typically drive in my stocking feet and only put on my shoes when I leave the car.  At larger events I wear my slip-ons.

This is the type of shoe I wear.  Though I now wear a version I get at WalMart for $10 instead of more than $40 for the Vans.  The Faded Glory brand is actually a decent shoe - though not as durable as the Vans shoe, but they still hold up OK.  The Puritan brand shoes at WalMart are pretty crappy and I don't recommend them. The $30 saved  with the Faded Glory shoes can go for table tennis lessons.  You can actually play in this kind of shoe in a pinch if you happen to leave your regular playing shoes at home.

I came to this scheme out of pure laziness and a desire for comfort while driving my one hour daily to and from work.

Kind of negative about this one. Why would I buy Van's slip on's. I would rather use that money for something else. I just think that maybe slippers would work but they can't be leather or have much padding on/in them.

Thanks man. Am I actually the first one to come up with this? I wouldn't think that they are available in the market or even "produced" by the major brands. Just get slippers or slip-on's, not sandles.

I only put on my playing shoes when inside the gym.  My tt shoes are just over a year old now and some poeple still think they are brand new.  I wear a pair of Crocs between the gym and my car.

Love the slipper over shoe idea.

And Jay, those Vans or similar slip ons have exactly 0 ergomic support. If one were to play in those shoes, you'd best spend $300 in custom orothotic inserts to keep them from wrecking your feet (pronation), knees (medial, lateral strain) hips and back over time.

You can get slip on shoe covers (intended for bowling shoes) at most bowling pro shops or on-line bowling supply stores.  Bowling shoes are extremely sensitive to water or grit.  It is no fun to finish your approach with a stuck foot and faceplant rather than a graceful slide to the foul line so the covers come in real handy walking to get a drink or use the bathroom.   By the way, the slide on shoe covers will not slide on the lanes any better than a wet bowling shoe.  Don't both asking me how I know this.

That is a piece of brilliance worthy of a Nobel prize. We just need to find a sponsor to lobby your case with the Nobel committee.

They have the same thing for bowling (my girlfriend's a bowler), I saw her put on shoe covers. When bowlers need to walk outside or walk throughout the bowling alley, they put on these shoe covers.

This might help.  Maybe more fashionable than slippers :P
