i owe alex this review for the XVE (xiom vega europe) .... im just a noobish player trying to review this rubber. its a red max XVE on a Xiom solo (flared) racket with a DHS skyline 2 on the other side. I will review this rubber with the strokes i used in the video.

BH Drives:
having a soft sponge doesn't really mean you will have a weak bh drive. in this case the soft sponge of the XVE helps you control the ball even at faster rates of driving. notice the sound is evident upon driving. the ball is fast enough to drive because the black XVE sponge is very bouncy.

BH punch blocks:
this is one of my most commonly used bh strokes. when i started to use this rubber my accuracy on my bh punch blocks improved a lot. the soft sponge absorbs the impact of offensive shots at the same time propels it back to your opponent giving you good control.

BH flicks:
i find flicking underspin balls easy with this rubber. the grippy rubber surface and the soft sponge allows the ball to sink to the rubber and sponge and get brushed by the grippy rubber surface to safely flick spinny underspin or no spin balls.

FH over-the-table-loops against almost short underspin balls:
im really a chinese rubber guy on the fh or if i'd use a euro rubber, i would use a tibhar genius (my ebenholz racket was stolen by the way). one stroke that i must do with a rubber for my fh is that i should be able to loop good not just average against short underspin balls over the table. i have no problem with chinese rubbers but mostly with euro/jpn rubbers i feel wanting for more. i was mistaken with the XVE. i thought i would have a hard time doing the stroke but i was wrong. i was having fun looping the balls above the table though it would still be faster and spinnier if i used the skyline 2 neo. if you noticed on the video, the balls i looped using the soft XVE have a good curve and throw angle so even if the ball would have the tendency to double bounce because they are a bit short you can actually loop them if you have the guts not to damage your racket. the rubber has a good feel and you can feel the ball sink into the sponge but at the same time you won't have any problems of bottoming out.

XIOM Solo:

Since i lost my ebenholz racket ( yeah too bad i was already settled with that racket) i have chosen to get the xiom solo. compared to the stiga ebenholz its a bit lighter since its only 87 grams when i weighed it on the digital weighing scale. it has a smaller handle compared to the stiga blades so i had to place a rubber grip on part of the handle as you can see on the video.

its a fast blade but i would rate it as off-... slower than clipper wood and much much slower than the stiga ebenholz. i feel a loss of power since i was used to the ebenholz with a much stiffer surface and heavier weight. it was still fast but then the control is much much better. a good looping blade and the price is very affordable.. if you are looking for a semi stiff 7 ply attacking blade with good good control then this blade is for you. i have a big hand, if only it had the amadeus' handle size i would love it more...

XIOM really seem to make  fine blades & I was just off in another thread contemplating Vega Europe.

btw I've been a Eur FH (especially soft rubbers) guy ever since I've been playing & now (Thanks Anton) I've had some good extended playing time with
BWII & NEO H3Provincial.
I AM enjoying them both a great deal.

heim, supposedly its a bw2 for my fh as a replacement for my tibhar genius but then due to lack of funds i settled for a bw2.. it was too soft for me so i went back to the neo skyline 3.. of all the soft rubbers that i have tried in my forehand, im only comfortable using xiom vega europe and joola green energy rubbers.... aside from these 2 i would always choose a chinese rubber

saif, since xiom aria is a soft blade  i dont think it would be good for the xiom vega europe. the set up would be slow.. if you need a vega for the aria i say choose the one with a harder sponge like the vega pro

Thanks yogi_bear. Actually I am thinking of a slower and controllable setup. So if it is slower that's Ok with me. But I don't want that the setup feels mushy.

Xiom Solo is a very good blade, indeed.  Excellent for blocking.  It feels soft when you play short games but it also has enough power to finish off the point even when playing at mid distance.  Its Flared handle is really nice and feels very comfortable.

yeah. the only thing i dont like about it is its handle being small. i like the amadeus' handle better

I played with Xiom Vega Euro on a blade Avalox P500 on BH and it was just alright with that blade IMHO. I would say it is controlled with that setup, and did not have the sound you are getting. Does the solo have a stiff feel or a harder outer ply? Did you seal it? On the other side of that P500 was Sterco and it was amazing. I think what you said above about soft blade -->harder sponge is true. Harder blade softer sponge. It took me a long time to internalize that.LOL

dauntless, i think its because of the stroke that i have resulting to that sound. if you hit through the sponge it will produce that kind of sound. usually hitting and punchblocking will make a big sound on the XVE. i did seal the solo to protect its surface and make it a lil bit stiffer

By that look, I can ignorantly say you're younger than me, Yogi. I wish I can have that coach 24/7. *heard the voice of Soundwave* "Robot!".

Too, I think I've witnessed Sriver did that kind of trick, judging by the ball's momentum and vector. Good skills, so yeah you got that much for being able to handle such.

hungga, im lucky to have him as my coach because he does not charge me. we do have something in common and we are both inclined teaching kids and helping poor kids have their own equipment. i think sriver can be used to loop above the table but it wouldnt be as effective if you are using chinese or grippy rubbers like tenergy or xiom vega
