I know a few people here have tried Acuda S1, but I was wondering about the other variations. Can anyone here give some insight into these new(ish) rubbers, especially the latter 2, and possibly give some comparisons?

OK. The topsheet is the same, but the sponges are different. S1 and S2 sponges are quite close. S3 has sign.softer sponge. The speed changes as the hardness goes to the soft side.
It is like S1=47.5, S2=45, S3=40 (ESN scale) but these are not official numbers, just my guess. |

I have both Acuda S2 & S3 on my bat at the moment, I have played with the S2 so far and quite like it. I'm not sure that the topsheets are the same, as both S2 & S3 display the same reading on my durometer. S2 orange sponge, S3 yellow Sponge. The S2 is a nice looping rubber, with a medium/Soft feel. Its throw is neither High nor low. Good spin is produced - better than the Desto Series, not as sharp on short shots. So far I like it. I have also tried the Coppa X3 Silver, and its has quite a hard feel. More of a smashing rubber - I found it hard to generate the same spin, as I normally do with my Hexer+. |

I have Tried the Coppa X2 Platin Soft, Which has a hard feel compared to the Acuda S2. Acuda S2 is a much better looping rubber for me, Being 46 and having a slower armswing than some of the younger players. I used the Coppa X2 platin Soft on my Backhand and most of my loops went long compared to my Hexer+ rubber. In my experience the Coppa X2 Platin soft would suit player that like to smash instead of loop, or prefer a harder feeling rubber. Although my Durometer tells me that Coppa X2 platin Soft has a softish sponge, the topsheet is harder - thus the overall harder feel. BTW The Donic Platin Series will be a deleted item once Donic runs our of Stock, Although I have been told that they still have Plenty. I must say that I did like the original Platin Soft. I had a hit yesterday with Boost TC and Boost TX on a TB ALC. Actually, these are quite good rubbers. Not quite as spinny as I would like during looping but very usable, very linear, nice feel and speed. I wasn't quite sure which of the two I like better.

Rob I am looking trialling a few new rubbers again. Could you help decide which would suit my style or is the best for me. You know I like maximum spin. I am thinking of the Acuda hexer omega IV range. I forgot to some degree why the original hexer didnt play right for me. The s1 I quite liked in my brief hit. Cheers

BOZ... ha ha... let me refresh your memory. hexer after a month or 2 was slow... and sufferred some non linearity (unless you use oil to get the grip back). i still think its one of the best esn offerings.
the only esn rubber that doesn't change its property significantly is thors. |

S1 and S2 are very very similar. I have one on each side of the bat. The S2 is actually really nice, the slightly softer sponge is a bit better for soft looping.

Yeah didnt forget the nonlinear but it was to only one I tried out of the hexers.
so I guess s1 would feel harder as to me seemed easy to change from 05. I am scared to go too soft again or too hard. I realy just want to get back now to the right density that I ultimately only find in my 05s. how about omega iv vs s1?

omega iv is 4 rubbers.
acuda s1 is a very good rubber... but need oiling after 2 weeks. if i could find a way to oil uniformly i wouldn't leave acuda go.. and i haven't sold my sheet yet.

Boz, O4 Asia is closer to T05 compared to S1. O4 topsheet is harder and grippier while S1 topsheet is more elastic.
I've used S1 both sides (boosted) for 1 month but I prefer O4 Asia even unboosted compared to it.

sad u guys need to oil or boost
iv asia (not euro pro) is closest to 05? iv asia is closer than any acuda (s1/2/3) Asia sponge is like vega pro carbo sponge? To me omega III was like bryce speed mixed with fortissimo. How is omega iv pro or which ever is closest to 05 different to vega pro

Has any of the users of Acudas, specifically the S1, noticed that:
- the top sheet is initially slightly sticky/tacky, which wears out after few practices? - the rubber has a "unique" smell immediately after it has been taken out of the package? |

This "unique" smell I first found in Baracuda rubbers. Today I open new sheet of S1 and S2 and found nothing new between S2 & Baracuda (exept smaller sponge pores) . Maybe S2 is only restyled Baracuda??? Edited by Zo k - 01/10/2011 at 5:47pm |

so you think S2 is restyled barracuda because it smells the same, even though sponge hardness, structure is different? interesting.... perfume seems to be the dna of a rubber.

Debraj,do you know sponge hardness of this two rubbers(S2 & Baracuda)?
Btw,smell is the same for all 3 rubbers. S1/2 pips stucture is different...closest to T64... Donic claims for a 50% lifetime +. I wonder how? |

For Acuda S1 maybe the lifetime Donic was trying to inform was 50% -. My pair lasted 1 month only.

yeah for s1 donic made a typo. they meant to say its 50% LESS than standard tensors.
but all said and done acuda s1 is a great rubber when it is new... or when it is even lightly tuned.

I've played with Donic Desto F3 for > 10 years, and have been playing with F3 Big Slam for the past 3 years so I recently gave Acuda S3 2.0mm a try. I play with F3 max on my BH and am ~ 2150 - 2200. The guy I ordered from suggested 2.0 rather than max as Acuda is faster than Desto. I put it on and immediately beat a 2200+ player at our club that I usually struggled with. The difference was this rubber had more spin/speed than the Desto, but it wasn't a huge difference so I was able to get the feel of it in a short time. I tried Baracuda but found it to be slightly heavy and a little harder than I prefer, but Acuda S3 was just right. If you like soft rubbers you will love this rubber. I recently ordered a sheet of Acuda max so will give that a try in the near future. Acuda S3 has good speed, is light weight, and has plenty of spin. Blocking was also great as incoming spin didn't affect it too much. Give it a try.

I feel that S3 is near the same speed as Baracuda, but S3 being much softer and elastic. That's coming from a TBS.
