I think that the world team with Boll, Mizutani and Joo Se Hyuk is the right setup (eventhough i would also have seen Ryu Seung Min in the team). But they have got a european, a japanse and a korean. It is the right representants for both the sport and the big nations of table tennis in the world.

They represent the most important countries and a really offensive player, a classic defensive player and a allround player. I really think they did a fantastic job putting together the team!
It is also to promote the sport further! You see the spin new york team there also to promote the sport in the US.

And then this "tournament" may also be something that Butterfly have been co-arranging?

I think this might be because Boll was trying to play a little faster/quicker than usual to give Xu less time to play his long powerful forehand topspins.

It looked like Boll was very careful NOT to use his "standard" opening forehand topspin: extremely spinny but also slow (and sometimes high). Most players have a very hard time coming up with a positive response to that shot, but Xu has been able to kill it off with powerful countertopspins very consitantly in their previous encounters, so I guess Boll was trying to change his tactics here.

Also, Boll played with great anticipation today. As already mentioned in the thread, his off-the-bounce-countertopspin on Xu's diagonal topspins from the forehand side was excellent. But he was also able to step around his backhand corner early to play forehand topspins with higher quality more often.

Maybe Xu was a little too insistant going for strong diagonal forehand shots from both corners in stead of varying the placement more and playing more straight shots? I guess we will see next time they play each other... Smile

Timo's counter that gave him the 10th point in the last game vs XX is amazing ... I wish my reaction time was the same!

It was horrible to be honest, they didn't really get to play. They played 4 points each and switched to another teammate. And the match ups were often bad like a former world champion vs a noob etc.
