I have the robot. Payed $700 for it from a dealer. It's alright, good for an occaisional hit or two but you shouldn't rely on it too much. In my opinion, both coaching and robot are needed, one to learn the stroke PROPERLY and the other to master the stroke. Robots are useless once you advance into match strategy, and the balls fired have no arc.
The supermaster can create tonnes of spin. I wouldn't try training loop off backspin as the ball is COMPLETELY different from human generated backspin. The ball has very little forward motion. The mChine has a downside, you can't program it to fire at two alternate places. For example, let spot 1 be A and spot 2 be B. It will not always go ABABABABABAB, but something like ABAABABABBAAA. So it is random. |

I beg to differ about looping chopped balls.
While it is true that the trajectory and speed of incoming ball does not mimic the human, all I need is a ball with back spin to be at point A at time T. This is the time and point of contact. I don't really care how it got there. I had zero backhand loop before I got the robot, and now I am raising eyebrows at the club. I still have too high error rate, but now I use it a lot and most of them go in, and on my level nobody can block well heavy top spin, so I usually get the point if I make it. Bad thing is, someone still needs to teach you the right swing. With the robot you can only practice it afterwards, but it is not advisable to learn the strokes yourself with a robot, because bad muscle memory is (believe me) very hard to get rid of. |

puppy412 : Sorry man, I don't mean to sound disrespectful, but I know that more training will make me better, I don't need to come here to figure that out
