Why aren't we all playing ZLC blades? These things feel amazing! Ping pong is a cheap sport compared to some others, so why not get a great blade. Does anyone other then Butterfly carry ZLC? Queue hater comments... go!

Agree with you.
TT can still be consider cheap sport.
But i don't think everyone will agree to play with ZLC.
Like me,ALC suit me better.

So you want everyone else to play with ZLC because you personally like it?

Galaxy/Milkyway/YinHe has a ZLC, the V-4 as does Xiom, the Quad something.  If any body could compare any of these models vs the Butterfly ZLC's that would be great.

I don't like how ZLC feels at all - too woody and not enough of a carbon ting feel.  I much prefer ALC.

Wow.
Never heard about this.
So ZLC is more wood feel than ALC?
Interesting.

I agree with the OP, asides from the extreme cost, I'm surprised more people aren't using ZLC blades, it really does feel amazing.  The feel is really hard to explain, it's "woody" yet doesn't really have vibration which is incredible considering mine is only 5.5mm thick.  It feels hard yet has good dwell time, which tells me it has some definite flex.  It can be screaming fast but also has great touch in the short game.  It's fairly light (86gm) but doesn't lose power away from the table.  It's playing characteristics are full of what would seemingly be contradictions.

I completely agree with Carbon TT here regards to zlc/limba's characteristics: Woody feel, good dwell, thin structure(more flex), good from mid distance, & produces spinny shots.  Since bty wont let me get a lighter IF zlc, I had to get one from Yinhe 82grs CP.  Craftsmanship is top notch! Plays well with Euro or Chinese rubbers.  It's my main blade!

I'll stick w/ my 1ply.  Every time I try a blade with any kind of carbon/fiber/etc it makes me appreciate my blade even more.

Edit (2/22/2103):  I was proven wrong.  I have since sold my 1 ply, and bought a Strad and a Zetro Quad.  I think they both are better suited for my game.

Many people already disagreed with me on this one, but I will say it again anyhow...

I like both Innerforce ZLC and Timo Boll ZLC.  I haven't come across any other ZLC blades out there offer the FEEL of these two blades.

I agree with you that table tennis is a cheap sport compare to others... but, lately... Butterfly increased their prices like crazy... even a crazy EJ like myself have to give up... I can't keep up with Butterfly any longer... I moving away from Butterfly slowly and looking for other alternatives:  Stiga, Nittaku, Donic, Andro, etc...

A shout-out to the Timo Boll ZLC:

I've used the TBS an TB-ZLF extensively before. However, the TB-ZLC is the best BTY blade I've tried.

It is NOT crazy fast - Over the past week, I've tried the following opponent's paddles after matches:
1. new T05 (glued with rubber cement) on both sides with Rosewood XO
2. newish T05 / T64 on a Innerforce ALC

In both cases, my opponent and I agreed that these set-ups were faster and less controllable than mine (TB-ZLC with a month old M2s).

I liked the TBS. I loved TB-ZLF except for at mid-distance (where it was too weak). The TB-ZLC feels quite a bit like the TB-ZLF except that it packs a punch mid-distance as well. It does exhibit that high-ish throw (though not as high as the TB-ZLF) due to the Zylon.

The catapault is easier to get used to (as the ZLC is the 2nd layer and not the 3rd). Just don't use super-fast or very high catapault rubbers (like T05) on this.

I found the M2 to be a great match for this blade.

Yes, I did get it for a reasonable price brand new (thanks rdrivr!).

I saw a video entitled 'Fast Blades' by TTEdge's William Henzell. In it, among other things, he argues that fast blades's disadvantages are that they:
1. normally exhibit low dwell & low throw
2. require a lot of upward force to generate spin with on certain strokes (like topspins vs spinny pushes)

The Zylon in this blade resolves all these issues. So, you get the benefits of fast blades without incurring most of the costs.

Haven't played with ZLC or ZLF before, but I'm getting more and more curious.
Will get myself an TB of IF blade soon and try for myself Smile

I like my Rosewood, but I also like playing in mid-distance (two-wing looper) and sometimes the RW V lacks power.

RW5 with Evo EL-P feels and plays better than TB ZLC on short and middle distance. Especially the new RW5 batch which is abt 84 g and 5.7 mm

What do you care what we like? Just because something doesn't fit your game doesn't mean it can't work for someone else.  My ZLC is the best blade I have ever used and fits my game extremely well.

I was recently sold on Zylon, by using my friend's TB ZLF for a couple of sessions last week. Was hoping to buy his so he could purchase the ZLC, but he's changed his mind.
As far the price goes, I'm not willing to spend $230 on a new blade. (Hence wanting to buy it used). The return on the dollar if I decide to sell the newly used blade diminishes too far. Most resale on this forum in the $150 range blemish free.
Instead, I bought a Xiom Zetro Quad for $90 new and play with it just as well.  And don't have that worry in the back of my mind about chipping the edge.
