anyone has information on this blade?
What rubbers make a good combination? What is it made of, what is the date of construction?

Any information is welcome!

extra information:

it's a butterfly blade, with a (brandnew looking) red butterfly sticker on the back of the handle. The Stipancic-st logo is metal.
I think it's a blade from end 70s, is that correct?
It's hardly been used

I believe that is a BTY from the early 70's. Most likely it was made of basswood in the ALL class. Very nice condition for it's age.

I remember watching Stipancic when  I was in college. At the time there were only two rubbers that everyone was using: Mark V and Sriver. The Chinese were using Double Happiness - and I believe there was only one kind of sheet at the time. Life was so much simpler.

My recommendation is try using one of these classic rubbers because undoubtedly the blades were designed to match these rubbers.

Ahh, PF-4 I hear was purple back then. Spectol was blue, and so was Sriver. Tornado was a golden yellow red.

Too bad we don't have blue rubbers today, that would be so cool.

I think the previous owner took the Mark V off...pity because the bat is pretty intact, not much damage on the wood, so it was problably the original rubber... Cry
On the other hand...butterfly bats came with butterfly rubbers, or could you buy custom made bats in those days...?
Maybe I will put new Mark V rubbers on, just for the look of it.

I believe RITC 729 came around in the late 70s. At the time for blades there was also Shunfeng and Shield brands. I once read a story on a chinese forum that Jiang had broken his blade while training and Xi Enting (who was a national coach for some time) had bequeathed his old Shunfeng blade to Jiang. This would explain why the blades you see in his '83 match with Waldner looks completely different than the blade he used against Waldner in '87.
