my paddle currently weights 185.7 g
the blade is a stiga wrb blade.
I'm thinking this might be a bit too heavy.
what do you think?
how much does a tbs of 90g + 2 tenergy 05 weight more or less?

My TB Spark 94g + T05 + Baracuda BS weighted 207g. It was well balanced so I couldn't really feel the weight of it. Usually if the blade is heavier it also is more powerful. Weight wasn't bugging me at all.

Right now my Firehand (1st is 78g, 2nd = 80g) + T05 + T05FX weights 179g and it's also well balanced but I can tell the difference between the first mentioned setup.

WRB means that the handle of your blade is probably empty, so when you glue heavy rubbers the balance might go to the head of the blade. That can make you feel like the whole set is heavy.

My current setup is about 212 grams, I have extra weight at the handle so it feels lighter than my 185 gram setups.

Only if you burn your blade but I think the amount of glue may have a bigger effect than the weight.
You supply the power.
If you think I am wrong then why not make a heavier blade for more 'power'.
If you make a blade big enough you may be able to 'power' a city or at least a car.

Anything over 180gm is too heavy and I prefer less than 170gm.

Wrb makes light blades feel heavy.

Put 5 grams in the handle and your perception of the total weight will be less.

I remember reading somewhere on here that 185g was a good target to shoot for with setup weight. I think style has alot to do with whether you want a light or heavy setup. And whether you want a head heavy, or more neutral balance.

Also, I found that glue can have a big effect on weight. I had been using regular rubber cement and it took several thin layers to get the correct amount of tack built up so the rubber wouldn't peel off at random. I switched to Stiga Syncro BTG and it only required one on the blade and one on the rubber and the glue is much thinner than rubber cement. It definitely dropped at least 5 grams from the overall setup.

yeah now that I think of it, it doesn't seem that heavy.
It was probably just some idea I had in my mind.
I haven't tried this blade yet (stiga v1 carbon wrb) so I'll have to wait and see how I feel with it.
I use speed glue and some layers of glue have been building up on both rubbers.
however it seems that adds something to the rubber.
not sure, but it seems like a rubber with 10 layers of speed glue (even if it was applied 6 months ago) has a bit extra power than a rubber say with only 1 application of glue.

+2, how true it is. Using grip tape or rubber grip cover can really help a head heavy or heavy setup feel more balanced and lighter.

+3, I added tungsten weights to a blade to make the weight better-balanced. However, i really want some grip tape. Where can I buy grip tape?

Most table tennis suppliers have grip tape and rubber grips. Grip tape is offered by BTY, Nittaku, Donic and others. Any regular tennis shops carry grip tape for tennis rackets that also works well for table tennis blade handles.Thumbs Up
