Hi all,

I have been using a Yasaka Extra with Mark V. I use Elmer's rubber cement to attach the rubbers to the blade and stretch the rubber when rolling them on. I only reapply glue once every few months.

I have been getting coaching with this paddle and I would like to start playing in tournaments. I would like to get a paddle that is undoubtedly legal and I have some questions about what speed glue and stretching are getting me over vanilla Mark V.

Like I mentioned previously, I do not reapply speed glue very often. This makes me think I have mainly gotten used to the tension aspect of my gluing method. If this is the case, should I be looking at tensioned rubbers with soft sponges? If so, what are some good examples of rubbers similar with Mark V with this property? If not, what kind of rubbers should I be looking at? I don't really have a price range on the rubber but I would like for it to be very durable (usable for at least one year).

I am also open to changing my blade if this would help preserve some of the effects I have been getting with my gluing method.

Thanks!

Gluing with rubber cement becomes legal after an hour of gluing.  The VOC's are no longer detectable and it is a perfectly legal racket in a tournament.  So just use what you are used to.  Rubber cement is not really a speed glue as the effects quickly wear off.  If you are playing well with mark v then continue using it, it is a perfectly good rubber.  You may eventually want to go to something with tension technology and has a little more power to it but that can be done at your discretion and I think that you would need to reach a pretty high level to truly out grow mark v.
