    Posted: 05/10/2012 at 11:43pm
I remember back in the early 80, I used conic handle and liked it very much.  I like FL because the end of the flared part withold my blade from slipping, but hated it for the curve contour.  I like ST because it felt full in my hand, yet during full swing there is a bit of insecurity that the blade might fly off my hand.  So Conic seems to offer the best of both, HOWEVER it is very hard to find.

Until recently, Stiga produces Conic handle again.  They name it CHAMP, as opposed to LEGEND (for wide flare), MASTER (for narrow flare), WINNER (for AN) and CLASSIC (for ST, renamed from PETER).

I bought Stiga Allround Wood NCT with Conic handle, not because I particularly like that blade, but I want to try Conic again.  And I say, it is the best handle.  I can grasp firmly (no void feeling from contour that FL offers) and yet can swing hard without being afraid that it will fly off my hand.

I own BTY Korbel with Conic handle.  It is good also but it is kind of slim, so the blade is head heavy.

Are there anybody here that like CONIC handle as well?

love the conic handle
Shame they're not more readily available.
I wonder if there is any way to modify other handles in order to make a conic one.

+1  Conic handles rule!  I only have a Stiga Kjell Johansson AR in great condition.  It is in beautiful shape,  feels great in the hand, but it is illegal to play with -- (double Red Yasaka Mark V ! Wink)

Since I'm playing with ELcon handle from OSP I never want to change it. Big fan of conic handles. Stigas champ handle is great, but (slightly bigger) ELcon suits me a little better. Sadly conic handles are not very common.

The old Stiga conic was called Lindt or something like that....I still have it somewhere. Not a bad grip but not the best ( ST for me). I was surprised Stiga brought back the conic grip since it was the worst seller among all manufacturers.

+1. ELCON of OSP is also my favourite. They (Lazslo & R, Palatinus) have really done their homework to make this handle so well/nice.

My Nexy Sahara is also with conic handle. I have and one old blade with conic handle named only ALLROUND, made by TIBHAR I suppose or Nittaku. I think it is more probably to be TIBHAR because 30 years ago this brand was the best here in Bulgaria, but friend of mine told me there is also Nittaku blade from the same years with this name and plastic logo.

The signature Stiga blade of former Swedish National Team player Erik Lindh had a conic handle, which was based on the iconic signature Stiga blade of another former Swedish National Teamer (and World Champion) Kjell Johansson – below you can see the handles of both blades.

Nice pics Pondus....I have both of those blades but they are Allround Wood so a bit slow for me these days. Smile. Now I really wish Stiga would offer the Alser grip again!
