I don't mean to go off on a rant but I am I the only one who hates those massive logos that are being placed on all the new rubbers?
The ITTF code number is now more than a square inch! The manufacturers have increased the size of the logo as well. All this print is taking up maybe 20% of the entire sheet of rubber that I'm paying for!
Its getting to the point where I'm even concerned that the embossed markings on the rubber are encroaching on my playing surface!
Why is the ITTF code and markings taking up so much of the rubber sheet????

How much of the bottom of the rubber do you cut off?  I find there is usually about 1/4 that can be cut off.  I just need to make sure I have enough to cover the tip of the blade.   When I play with my LP I usually think about keeping my fingers in the logo area and off the pips so I don't break them with my fingers.

I now have to cut away 1/2" from the bottom out of the logo in order to have enough just enough at the top to cover my blade.
I find that the markings being so prominent interfere with my fingers resting on the rubber and impair my movement. (seriously)

I also agree. There seems to be no reason for it either. I guess try to take as much off the bottom without messing with the ITTF symbols and leaving enough space at the top to cover the racket.

The logo strike fear into the heart of men.

They see the logo from the across the table and are frozen by it....After they put on their reading glasses.

They make massive logo to prevent player using the rubber upside down. I saw my previous coach, use the rubber upside down to save money buying new rubbers.

Didn't get it: how would upside-down allow you to use the rubber for a longer time?

First you use as normal, the marking is near the wing....
Then when it got bubble, you peel it off.
Stick it upside down, then cut the rubber, and stick it on the blade.

Just try it with your blade and rubber to figure it out, you'll get what I mean...

Peter, I saw something similar, but they kept the logo at the bottom, but cut an oval shape out of the rubber and just turn that part around.

But yes, WHY are the logos getting so much bigger???
Which genius decided it is better to have so much playing area - not smooth.
I wonder if it is even legal when the ball touches the logo part?

That's what I thought, then.
But if you turn it upside down and cut it, won't the rubber be too small?

One of my club members got a sheet of Aurus from me. Her husband was in the club that day and attached the rubber to her blade - which amazingly was the only ULMO custom blade I have EVER seen in Korea. (She is one of the OX LP Achuma Brigade)

While he was waiting for the glue to dry on the blade, he promptly cut off almost a CM form the bottom of the blade and when he measured it to the blade, it was barely past the top. This guy must have done this a gazillion times. He could have done that operation in his sleep or even in a coma.

Kind of, but I see players do this all the time even with the big logos. If you play with rubbers like Xiom that can bubble flipping it extends play by slightly shifting your sweet spot to a different location.

Also thank you to whoever started this thread. The logo sizes have been bugging me for a long time. Not because I am trying to flip my rubber. It bugs me because I hit a logo shot a couple times a match where it was much less frequent back in the day.

those shots that hit the logo still land on the table, so it's not so bad.

If you are hitting the logo's then you may as well be miss hitting that low on the rubber. The sweet spot or all blades is the center so why would you be intending to use another part of the blade? Next people will complain that their fingers and blade handles are in the way

Many times when I am serving, I deliberately hit the ball with different points of the blade. For maximum spin, I use the tip of the bat and for minimum spin, I sometimes hit near to the logo end.
The rules of the game state that the racket covering must be uniform, if the ITTF's marks and the logo take up 20% of the covering and affect the uniformity of the covering, I think its a legitimate complaint.
