David's serves are actually sufficiently short, they just look long on video.

I am in the big swing Chinese school. To me, that is the way to swing.

Can't blame you... if you can control each shot and counter with that big of a swing then why not!... Superb mental toughness, a good serve, amazing footwork, exceptional consistency and great stamina is all that is left to learn & develop. Because honestly, unless ones opponent is leveled way higher than those kids, i don't think countering or even blocking those long deep drives would be a walk in the park.

May i ask what is the rating of Zach & David and how long have they been playing?

You didn't see my request not to discuss ratings... :)
David 2-3 years. With me for 7 months. Both of them rated around 1600. David is starting to play a lot of high level points, although it is yet to show in his ratings. Don't coach Zach any more......

David match 1: (opponent is over 2100, David lost)

David match 2: (opponent is around 1800, David won the match)

David forehand (I have had a number of people telling me the swing is too big)

Sarah match 1

Jeffrey match 1 (he was not in the first video)

I hope to make all of them into elite players by the time they go to college. Just don't ask me their ratings in the next year or so :)

Just as i thought... those long full swing drives are giving their opponents a hard time.

David might have loss match 1 but, he's a 1600 player playing a 2200 player... imagine if he was also 2200.

I think your doing great with your coaching, because not everyone could correctly execute put-away shots like that... especially those who are too restricted to short swings.

By the way, the other short rallies you did not include on the clips that you somewhat mentioned less exciting is what we from the "1 to 21 Points Era" called a "Solid 3rd ball attack!!! ".

The bottom line is... "Ending a rally is what makes a point and not the rally itself!"

:) My apologies! hahahaah... only negative thing about the full swing is when you get old... it gets very tiring when you're not in shape. (based on my experience)

very nice play by the two youngsters, especially the David kid.  I really like his personality and his adoration for the game.  While watching Sarah play, I can't help but notice seeing David clapping in the background whenever she wins a point.  You have two very good and humble students.  Keep up the great work!

No problem buddy, we can make it a thread of our clubs, whoever it may be.

Latest video from David and a high level visiting coach:

I have to apologize I misspelled "Random" in one of the captions. English is never my strong suit.

I hope you got the right kid, Jeffrey is the Chinese kid, he uses Jun Mizutani blade with T05 FX on both sides, definitely not boosted.

Nice video, but... did you notice at all that the guy in the red shirt's serves were all illegal?  Seldom have I seen a slow motion video show so clearly an arm being left up to obstruct view of the ball.  It's not even a grey area -- the video clearly shows it's illegal.

It doesn't hurt the rest of the video but I thought it was striking anyway.
