Very good article! It also says why it's difficult to serve like that: needs very good coordination. Probably best to start as a kid to get that good Dead

it's now my favourite serve, gets me the most points, especially the reverse serve to your opponents short FH, they make your opponents really uncomfortable because everybody is doing conventional pendulum serves. It's not that hard to learn. It's easier to learn it like a BH serve first to get the brushing motion correct, then do the pivot version.

I was already doing pendulum and reverse-pendulum serves, but recently I started getting the hang of doing it the ZJK/FZD way.  I'm having some success with it because it seems that it does a better job of hiding the spin.  People seem to be thrown off by not seeing whether the serve will be pendulum vs. reverse-pendulum until the last second.  I'm getting more pop-ups and less attacking of the serve.  Of course the hard part is doing the serve well enough to keep the serve low and short.  It's easy to mis-time it where the serve bounces up too high and can be easily attacked.

i was watching random matches from the hungarian open, and a bunch of europeans are adopthing some form of this serve. It is one of the most popular serves right now. Well.. some form of it. It just never looks the same. Watching ZJK cock, serve, and pop in ready position right away is like watching a leopard come down a tree in one of these documentary movies. Every move is so elegant. And then when u watch those guys at the Hungarian open try to copy it... its like watching a fat kid just drop off a branch like a bag of potatoes. They both got off a tree, but one was taking shortcuts and looked hideous.

That footwork is very revealing as to how they recover into an attacking position or ready stance after the serve.
