Those rubbers were designed for the speed glue era. Too hard and too slow.

First of all they are fast and have very much spin. They have a high control factor. The harder you hit the more accurate they become. And you need good hard and stiff blade to support them.I played with red max on my forehand. The last about three months in topcondition. @smackdat play with something serious like LKT Will Power before you talk about speed.I you can't dont talk about stuff |

That looks like a new version... I've not seen that packaging, nor the Faster rubber with those sponge colours. 47deg on the 729 scale would have to be hard as a rock!

Yes that's definitely a different rubber to what carmelomaf is talking about... the topsheet may well be the same though.

a little off topic but still about 729 rubbers...does friendship have a rubber that is the closest thing to a tensor, or do they have a rubber that could be a mirror to the national version rubbers of DHS?
was just wondering, because i tried 729-5. it says in the description it was suppose to be for the post speed glue ban era, but it disappointed me.... |

The only supposed boosted rubber is Higher-Transcend series with green sponge. But LKT has the Rapid Soft which are very good to play ,with my 2 first are already worn out after 5 to 6 months. But they are light and have sufficient speed on my LKT Will-Power of course.2mm does the trick. LKT,KTL and Friendship are just cousins in case you wonder. They are from the same factory.Like Lexus and Toyota ,Asus and Asrock. |

That's the same sponge as the original red diamond and black power. Who would be surprised if they weren't the same rubber?. 729 made the originals for LKT anyway, perhaps the time frame to keep them single brand in the contract is over?

The newest (third) version of red diamond (non tacky) is very much like a tensor/tenergy, that is the closest they make to a tensor. 729-08 is the probably to closest match for the DHS stuff although all the originals are are also similar 729/729fx/729-2. I really didn't like 729-5 either it was weird

Here's my two pence:
the 729 classic rubber (a.k.a. 729 training rubber) is noticeably faster than any commercial neo dhs rubber. Both unboosted and boosted. The reason is probably that it is less tacky than DHS rubbers. in particular, when boosted with 1 layer of seamoon, it becomes as fast as a german rubber like aurus. The downside is that it is noticeably lower throw than DHS rubbers (or aurus or m2 or t05); so you have to change your fh technique, using a waldner-like fh technique, which is slower, more physically demanding, and hampers your backhand. The above holds for the red 729 classic, max. The black version is different: faster, softer, and still lower throw. I haven't tried boosting it, because the throw was too low anyway. I also tried 729-05 and it was low throw as well. Nothing to see here. To the contrary, both NEO TG3 and NEO H3 are high-throw rubbers. (especially H3). So you can use a technique similar to t05, or m2, only they are much more spin sensitive. Unfortunately, they are too slow for me, even boosted. I also tried 729 higher. Softer, and less tacky, but still low throw. And I tried focus III snipe: low throw, soft, and not tacky. the interesting question for me is: does 729 produce a high throw rubber at all? Thanks, I'm always interested in people's thoughts on FIIIS, since I use it, and haven't tried that many different rubbers.
@op - sorry for the off topic. |
