i was just wondering about the rubbers out there that are good, but are not tensors. I really dislike the feel of tensors for some reason.. probably because of its bounciness.

Stiga Calibra,  Joola Phenix... I'm assuming you aren't into Chinese rubbers....

Tenergy/Calibra/Evolution are not Tensors, but they are built using the same principles, so they are quite similar to Tensors
TSP Agrit is not Tensor, never found a review, but it's supposed to be a good rubber because it's TSP Smile
TSP Brio is good, much better than unglued Mendo for sure Wink
Xiom Musa is a great BH rubber, much better than unglued Mendo for sure Wink
Haifu Shark is a great BH rubber (very popular in China Euro-style rubber)
DHS Tin/Gold Arcs are great and definitely less bouncy than Tensors

You can also consider Palio rubbers on Biotech sponge, they can be good (better than unglued Mendo), but  to a certain level.

I'm not against tacky rubbers, but only if they aren't really heavy.. haha. I just don't like their weight.

Xiom Musa and DHS Tin Arc are both excellent modern non-tensors.
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

The word "Tensor" has become the "generic" descriptive for modern post-tuned sheets. Most people would catergorize all modern tuned sheets as being "Tensor". There are many players who don't bother about specific "patents".

I will only put relatively cheap rubbers here as I do not feel you have to spend more than 20-30 dollars per rubber unless you are a 2100+ player.

Giant Dragon Karate (Hard, Soft) - Hard 2.2 is a bit too heavy so I recommend 2.0 or 1.8 mm; Soft could be any thickness

Air Illumina (especially Red in 2.2) is a nice rubber with some good OFF- speed)

LKT Rapid Speed, Palio CJ8000 Light & Fast: if you want it to be a little tacky

Sword Backoff 2000-F on purple sponge - very good offensive rubber on any OFF blade with harder outers (I recommend it for BH as well)

From modern rubbers Tibhar Nianmor is not bouncy, same as Nittaku Nodias A-1 (but these are not that powerful) . Chinese rubbers like Tibhar Grip Europe and Donic Traction might bring you joy.

There's really a rubber called backoff? Imagine the possibilities... Opponent leans close and asks "what are you using?" ...  BACKOFF!!!! LOL

Jim, that's a good point. I'm around 1500 and I don't think i would be able to use the high end rubbers very well to justify purchasing it. So yeah if you guys could limit your suggestions to rubber under 40 dollars that would be great.  And please don't mention rubbers with terrible durability

Nittaku Renanos Hold. Excellent non-Tensor, Japanese rubber. Reasonably priced considering its performance.

Some of you are suggesting renanos hold. I guess that is really something i should look into. Any thoughts on its durability?

Durability is better than Tensors, for sure. Not indestructible like some Chinese rubbers, but still very good.

I've never observed any chipping around the edges or even marks on the rubber from repeated use. The only time I've damaged it was when I hit the table so hard that it also damaged my blade. But not many rubbers can survive a collision like that without something to show for it.

Thors is a "tensor" type rubber... 729 blue sponge i would like to add to this list...now that's pretty much a tacky brick LOL

I certainly hope you are right.  I just ordered one couple days ago.  There are some discussions about it here: http://ooakforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=20678&hilit=agrit

+1

Absolutely, positively, without question. Thor's is a Tensor. A harder "different" Tensor, but a Tensor nonetheless.

My all-time favourite is TSP X´S F1 21. It gives an excellent control, specially when blocking.
