I want to compare Butterfly's Sriver (original) to Yasaka's Mark V to Donic's J.O. Waldner.
I understand that these are typically the rubbers you'd recommend to newbies because they offer great control to allow players to develop their strokes and such. But I'm curious as to how they compare against each other in terms of looping, chopping, smashing, lifespan, etc. Or are any differences too irrelevant? For those of you with experience, what set-up would you recommend e.g. Mark V forehand, Sriver backhand, etc. Thanks! |

Sriver and Mark V share the same speed. Control is about the same. Sriver has a lower throw (arc) and is better for drive/counter while Mark V is a bit spinnier, has a higher throw than Sriver and is better for looping. Both rubbers perform all strokes well and offer good durability. Sriver is more expensive than Mark V. As far as I know Donic J.O. Waldner rubber is no longer in production. There is no "best" it's just player preference.

JO Waldner is now Nittaku Nodias. I played JO Waldner for over a decade and finally switched because they quit making it. I am pretty sure I bought Nodias to see if it was the renamed version and it was definitely the same.
These rubbers are all similar. I would go with Sriver or Nodias and put them on a Butterfly Primorac OFF- blade. That is one popular setup from back in the day. Butterfly's most popular selling rubber and blade in years past. |

Sriver a but harder feel than Mark V. Performance pretty much the same. Choose on the basis of price IMHO. There is nothing about Sriver that justifies its price.

Sriver both sides, better grip and better control imo but if you have control then markV both sides better speed again imo.

May be JO Gold and Platin rubbers are still in production in China because he is so popular there. It is easy to buy from taobao today.
