tibhar aurus is an excellent control rubber with medium hard to hard porous sponge; it can do everything very well. a bit heavy at 50g cut.

Thanks , i was affraid of the weight, now i use hexer plus and works good just getting old .Weight of the hexer is on medium light so with fast arc s1 wich is very light keeps the weight of the whole racket on the medium side .Aurus is on sale on tt 11 now so I was thinking about getting one .

After my last TBS cracked, I picked up a M. Maze. I have used Aurus as FH rubber for the last 1.5 years, so I can talk directly about this combination. The maze blade I got was on the light side, about 87 grams, so I added weight to the handle by filling in the hollow area with hide glue. After that mod, Aurus was a great matchup with M. Maze.

I have discussed frequently that Aurus is one great hard sponged rubber for a flexible all-out offensive player who wants high speed, better speed, and still keep it on the table with a medium arc.

VictorK has been playing with Aurus (even on both sides sometimes). He could post his overall impressions here, I am sure. I know he likes it very much.

Recently - when we met at the Westchester Open - he gave me his Rosewood XO with Aurus on FH to try and I really liked the feel. He actually was gracious enough to send me one of the used Auruses he had, I should be getting it soon. Then I will post my impressions as well.

Yes, I've played with Aurus 2.1 on both sides for over a year ... but I'm not a particularly skilled equipment reviewer - I don't know or care much about throw angles, pimple geometry, sponge porosity, spin to speed ratio, etc - I just either like how rubber feels in my hands and on my blade, or I don't.

My overall impressions are that Aurus is a pretty fast, medium-firm rubber with lively (but not bouncy) sponge and responsive topsheet (which I believe is relatively thin).  The rubber doesn't have any major weaknesses in my hands and for my style of play (all around offensive player) and I find it predictable - I get a predictable response based on my input.

It's by no means identical to Stiga Mendo MP or Bty Ekrips, but having played with both rubbers during speed glue era (Mendo MP on FH and Ekrips on BH), I found some similarities between how these two rubbers and Aurus felt, which influenced my decision to play with Aurus.  Another important factor for me was that Aurus is quite durable.

Some of my club mates tried Aurus - some liked it while others didn't.

aurus is great for forehand. medium-hard, high throw. harder than m2. less grippy than m2. much softer than m1. faster than t05, slower than m2. great spin in loops. A lot of control, very linear.

especially good with stiff blades like clipper. black is much better than red.

aurus is very similar to rakza 7.

Just as my own observations;

Aurus Soft is best among the aurus family. Aurus is very hard, too bouncy and lack of spin. I had very hard times to hold the ball on the table. It is easier to generate spin with Aurus soft. Even skilled players of my club mates had hard times with it. On the other hand, Aurus Sound has very soft sponge but it is very bouncy and uncontrolled. Balance is very bad.

+1 for Aurus Soft.  Really like this on the BH side.
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

It's interesting that two different people can have such meaningfully different opinions about the same rubber ... After over a year of using it, I found Aurus (regular) to be:
- spinny enough that I don't have much problem generating spin on any shots (short game, serve, fast push, counter loop, re-loop, etc) or even lifting heavy underspin - I frequently play against good defenders
- not bouncy at all - actually I think it's very "lively" but quite linear
- not overly overly hard - I'd describe the feel as medium plus
- very controllable despite being very fast

Having said that, I wouldn't recommend Aurus to beginners, mostly due its speed and lively/dynamic sponge, which may cause control problems for players with less developed technique.

I have played with Aurus that VictorK has graciously sent me (on Xiom Zetro Quad and on BBC X-Fusion blade) and I can say (confirm) that

a) yes it is medium-hard sponged rubber; of course if you are used to playing with softer rubbers then Aurus will feel too hard. But for me coming from 39-41 deg rrubbers like Palio Blitz, Xiom Omega 4 Asia, various 41-42 deg new generation Chinese rubbers etc - this one certainly feels a tad softer than usual but still relatively firm

b) yes it is pretty fast (OFF) but not too springy which I actually like; it is as Victor says rather linear.

c) the topsheet is probably a bit softer than the sponge so incoming spin sensitivity of Aurus is a bit worse than, say, for Omega IV Asia but it is easier to open topspin loop with it, and short game is a tad easier on FH

d) it feels very good on BH - very confident, very reliable rubber which you can count on both smashing, flat game, and BH spin looping as well.

All in all, I think I will be ordering some Aurus from that Estonian webstore that Victor mentioned.

It is not for beginners but players from 1800 and up can play with it for sure. As I said I liked it very much... probably a bit more for BH but it plays quite good on FH as well. For about 22 euros (28 dollars) this looks like a very good deal.

Thanks, Victor!

My take on Aurus is just about identical to Victor's.  I like to experiment with different rubbers, so I switch around a lot more than I should.  That having been said, I have enough experience with Aurus that I can always switch back to it (especially on the BH) and feel comfortable.

To me, Aurus is the "Sriver" of modern tensor rubbers: it does not give you any superpowers, but it will let you do exactly what you want owing to its linear behavior and good dynamic range.  It is not superfast unless you add some speed and not super spinny unless you know how to make spin.  For a well-trained player like Victor I can think of few better choices.

On my beloved XZQ I experience erratic results with Bluefire m2/m3 2.0 that I thought were the best rubber ever for my level; here I am thinking again about Aurus and Aurus Soft, faithful servants on any blade; no surprise with them --> they will underline better than any other rubber what's wrong with what I do; only after I am done with Aurus(es) on my ZQ should I move onto Bluefire again. My problem might reside in other compartments of my game though; like fitness and food habits.

Aurus has great control and is linear, yet I cannot put it in the same class as slower classic control rubbers like Sriver.

Spin is great with my kind of impact, Aurus does everything I want at a great price and lasts two months of daily play, which is 2X longer than T05 ever cut it.

Oh, the topsheet is really special. When new, it feels like some really nice supple soft leather.

Specifically for Victor, I could not think of anything better, so I recommended he try Aurus and he seems to have stuck with it since.

For other people there may be other good options.  It is somewhat style specific, though.

Since I have a pretty good idea of how Victor plays, Aurus was a natural recommendation.
