A Samsonov Alpha with even old T05 loops well.  My Samsonov Alphas have straight handles.  The handles are 100mm long with is long enough but the diameter is a little small.   There are rubber crips that I have bought from the Paddle Palace for a few bucks.   I use rubber cement to glue the rubber grips to the handle and this makes the diameter of the handle much bigger and easier to grip.
The rubber grips can be easily removed even after being glued to the handle.

What other new generation rubbers pair well the alpha blade that aren't as expensive as tenergy?

I liked Rakza 7 soft max on my Samsonov Alpha for looping.   It is the next best thing to T05  I have tried on my Samsonov Alpha but I loop pretty well with H2 Neo or H3 Neo and they are much cheaper.  I would try Barracuda too.   I don't think you need to spend a lot of money on expensive looping rubbers with a Samsonov Alpha.   I can hit BH loops that jump out at the opponent using IQUL.

I played some with my Samsonov Alpha today.  What I like is that the paddle is much lighter than most of my other blades and this is due to the fact the head is smaller.   I like the lighter weight when I have to lift chops.    My practice partner just got a chopping paddle from Coles.  I spent 1.5 hours lifting his chopped balls.   After that one can appreciate a lighter paddle.
