    Posted: 04/16/2013 at 4:57pm
I am sick and tired of all the fake reviews, so I decided to write this REAL review. It is about my beloved XIOM Stradivarius blade.

But enough yapping and into the review.

---The REAL review of XIOM Stradivarius---

SPEED: 0 / ?
-------------

The blade's speed is absolutely 0. I put it on the table, and no movement what so ever. On the other hand when I move it in my hand, it moves more or less the same speed as my hand.

FEEL: Solid, Wooden, Even, Bit Rough
-----------------------------------------

Moving my finger across across the blade face; it feels even, solid, wooden and a bit rough. CAVEAT: the edges don't feel flat. The logo on the handle feels plastic-y.

THROW ANGLE:
-----------------

The blade made the most interesting sound when hurled at 45 degree angle and subsequently collided with the wooden floor of the playing hall. Other players in the hall seemed to disagree, and suggested 90 degree angle next time. Who knows.

PAIRING WITH RUBBERS:
---------------------------

Using glue (water based; as I predict many of you itching to know) rubbers stuck very well to this blade. As this is REAL review, I won't shy away from stating: overall this blade works very well with rubbers.

PRICE:
-------

If you factor into the equation: the growing of three kinds of different trees (from around the world), chopping down the trees, transporting the logs to sawmill, sawing them into veneers, shipping veneers to the TT blade factory, cutting them into small pieces, inventing some carbon-weave, inventing some strange name for the carbon-weave, gluing the pieces (and carbon weave) together, sawing blades from the assembled pieces, creating 'cool' XIOM website, waiting for a fool to order the blade and shipping the blade to the fool; I'd say asking 80$ is no big deal.

 SPIN:
-------

Spin is OK. Almost as OK as Ding Ning.

WEIGHT:
----------

Gentleman never asks. (I did it while was sleeping: 86 g)

Excellent work, but why pick on the Strad? Did Xiom sleep with your mother?
This was a great signature until I realised it was overrated.

Wink Good question. I want to know the answer.

Nice review!

Now I am looking for another equipment. When I throw the blade, it doesn't come back... I'm looking for a boomerang... Can you recommend any?

I have been thinking of buying a Strad for a long time now.

Now this review has got me to thinking . . . .  and thinking . . . maybe for a very long long time.

What the heck! Why not a Strad?

man, really sharp sense of humor. Are you from Finland really? This is extremely rare in united states.
I like this one a lot, but its #2. The idea for such a review came from another dude - guess which paddle I am talking about, or something like that. He thought the rubber was grippy because it would pull hair from his chest. This one got me laughing out loud when I got to the 45 degree hurl. Woke my gf, she was sleeping in my room. Have to explain to her in the morning, she will understand.

assiduous - Are you referring to this thread?   http://mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=65439&PN=1&title=rubber-review-guess-which-one    .... ff so, I'm glad I provided a little amusement to you while expressing my opinion (in a form of parody) on some of the equipment reviews on this forum.

BTW, I grew up in Poland, which isn't that far from Finland, so maybe there are some common, European overtones in Funahurrna's and my posts.

I tried Strad for one hour and found it a very nice composite blade but didn't like the feel when contacting the ball. A bit to stiff for my liking or perhaps the impact and ball release. TBS, Power Carbon, Tractor Supply #4 offers better feel. It moved as quickly as my hand and the ball went over the net in a flat arc. This is not an arc blade but a blade that excels in missing the end of the table. Recommended for players over 500 who have stayed at 502 rating for 20 years. FL grip felt like shaking hands with the doorman at the Carlton Ritz...kinda cold and clammy. Stayed clammy for the whole hour. I don't care for clammy feeling blades even the mighty Strad. Warm fuzzy feeling blades like Tractor Supply blade #4 are superior. Just drop in the lithium battery in the handle to get heat.

Yes, I was talking about yours. By the way, I am not sure your idea was authentic either. You never answered my question: have you read these before

Clever, amusing, and I remember the previous 'review' as well.  However...(there is always a 'but' in there somewhere...) am I alone in thinking barn doors, elephants in the ass etc.?  One review of a blade/rubber/new plastic Palio ball etc.? Worthless. A consensus among many? Worth something, I feel. It's the same with book/film reviews etc. In fact, there should be some kind of Rotten Tomatoes for table tennis gear.  Rotten Rubbers or some such...  Still, I find a number of reviews of the same product of some value. Anyone else?  Anyone? Bueller?

Of course my idea wasn't original and I made no such claims since it's ancient Greeks (e.g. Hegemon of Thasos) who "invented" parody.

I had not read the reviews in your link until few minutes ago, but I feel quite flattered by your comparing my review to these masterpieces :o)

FWIW, in my reviews I wasn't making fun of equipment reviews in general.   I aimed at mocking those super-long-detailed-scientific-numeric-specific-conclusive-quantitative-impressive.... etc reviews that have been written by people who appeared to have no clue what they were talking about and/or played with particular equipment for very shore period of time.
