in my opinion there is alot of difference in 1,9 or 2,1 mm but thats just me. I have played with tenergy 05 1,9 on FH and wanted to try tenergy 05 FX 2,1 instead beacuse its not that affected to incoming spin and i wanted to get the speed down a little bit. I had bigger problems pushing down the ball to where i wanted it so i changed to 1,9mm FX whick worked out great for me anyways. And yes its about the tehnique also but the feeling was different which i didnt liked at all. So its a tase i preferthe 1,9 beacuse u loose a little bit in speed but gain more control... |

True, I hit a couple of balls with a 2.1 mm Tenergy 05 Fx (i normally play with a 2.0 mm Vega Europe) and my short game suffered a lot but my looping game was just insane...

I like the 1.9mm better for drive loop. 1.9mm bottom out faster and i can really feel my blade working when i drive loop or smash. 2.1mm feedback just a bit slower than 1.9mm. |

I switched to 05fx 2.1 from originally using regular 05 1.9mm. I have regretted it every day.

if you are attacker 2.1, because it has deeper sponge, longer contact time, superior spin and speed.
If you block and defend, 1.9. I have a very ZJK-like looking BH, although in terms of consistency I am a few miles away. For opening BH loop the 2.1 sponge makes NIGHT AND DAY difference. It provides that extra split second that the ball stays on the rubber so I can carry it up a little and sling it. This shot is very very difficult with thin rubber, not just T05FX, but any thin rubber. Generally after 1700 rating there should be no reasons whatsoever for you to stick with thinner versions.

With 1.9 you will have more direct feeling, little more hard than 2.1mm and you will feel better the blade. In blocking you will have more control, in attacking - more less speed. About the spin - it will be with little more higher level than 2.1mm.

I don't think the FX sponge is nearly as good.
