I have heard a lot about older version to be thinner (~6.0 mm) and "new version" to be thicker (~7.0 mm). The reviews may be mostly on the older thinner version.
I would appreciate reviews on the "new version" Clipper, particularly WRB. |

Have you played with the new version of clipper? What has changed, stiffer, faster, less control, worse/less ball feeling?

I think you will find 99% of reviews on the internet are the new thicker version. The thin Clippers are old and very rare these days, not many people own one

I never played with the old one but I have a 6.8 "Clipper Classic", not WRB.
I doubt the old one, made of the same materials, could be this stiff. I don't hit hard enough to notice any flex. But it is noticeably soft compared to T-11+ and Mazunov; it made TG3 NEO feel "deep". |

Is the new version Clipper good for looping, FH smashing, or BH hitting?

I can't tell you. I just hit off the bounce and punchblock with short pips. I like the Clipper Classic because it is rigid but I'm using something harder now.

Did Stiga destroy its own classic by making a thicker Clipper?

I don't think so; of what I said, I didn't mean either "soft" or "stiff" as necessarily a negative.
I normally play 802-40 on a much harder blade. Today I tried the Clipper with 802-40 and there is no doubt at all that this setup spins more. That is not necessarily better or worse for my game but I would have to decide whether I want it or not. One mistake though is making different versions and then leaving doubt in the customer's mind about what thickness they're going to get.

seguso, I know you are using Clipper right now. Would you give some input on thin vs. thick Clipper?
Thanks. |
