We keep hearing about spinny rubber, spinniest rubber etc. Hope we understand that spin is a function of speed of impact.

- speed of impact with the ball
One rubber can be very spinny at 30mph, while bottoming out and barely spinny at 60mph
similarly another rubber which bare spins the ball at 30mph due to harder sponge, can generate lethal spin at 60 mph

It is not the only variable for spin.. because 2 rubbers at same impact may spin differently due to factors like grip, hold time etc.

But without qualifying the speed ... asking for spinniest rubber is not much useful. You will come up with confusing and contradicting responses from different posters

If you thought about it very hard and thought up a good definition would anybody care to use it?  From what I have seen the answer is no.  If yes, then where would the data come from?

tt4me, you are right.. you cannot have accurate data to quantify the speed.

but you can use data range definitions like
- spinny in slow loops
- spinny in mid range
- spinny at power loops

without complicating any further.

When people rate the spin of a rubber, I generally assume that it is the spin produced off a medium powered loop, but clearly its not always the case as you point out Debraj.
