Can anyone tell me the weight of an uncut sheet and the approximate weight cut to a regular sized paddle head?
Thanks ------------------------ Hi, I've heard from certain players here (very high ranked, world top 500 types at their peak) that MX-P is not as good as the latest gen tensors (M1, M2, OIV Pro, S2E) leave aside T05 when it comes to topspin stability. The throw angle is a bit low for their likes and a friend told me its not very good if you don;t use a booster. Can someone who has made the switch form Bluefire/ Xiom Omega or Sigma / T05 to MX-P elaborate the differences? Edited by ashishsharmaait - 10/21/2013 at 11:43pm |

I've used MX-P for the past 6 months, compared to Tenergy 05 and Tibhar 1Q, the durability is there. It is good for hard topspins when you're in optimum position, and also out of position shots due to the bouncer. Slightly bouncier out of the packet than T05, less than Sigma 2 and possibly M2. It is faster than M2 and T05, but the topspin ability is definitely as good, if not better than the latest tensors. High spin with tight service returns (when read right), a very stable tensor

I only tried red mx-p. mx-p is less reliable than m1 in counterloop. it is more unstable at high power. with m1, when you miss a counterloop, it is your fault. with mx-p, it is often the rubber's. m1 has a slightly lower throw than mx-p (and this might contribute to mx-p's instability; they copied t05's throw but they could not copy the reliability). but still medium-high (much higher than rakza 9 or acuda s1). also, mx-p's arc sometimes becomes flat at very high power. not so with m1 and t05. warning: m1 differs from red to black. black is better than red in counterloop stability. (and both are better than red mx-p). black m1 also has a bit lower throw than the red; it is faster, and has a slightly harder topsheet. Edited by seguso - 10/21/2013 at 11:51am |

10 months here. Agree with SmackDAT's experiences. Switched to MX-P from M1. M1 was bouncier, and harder to control in the short game. Pretty sure that any loops I missed with M1 and keep missing with MX-P are due to my technique deficiency and have nothing to do with the rubber. Unless you are yourself a world top 500 player, stop fixating on the rubber, and practice more.

Hi.
Certainly not fixating on rubbers here :) I've been using OIV Pro for over an year now (3 sheets gone, last one going). Just need to know if there's something with better control at the same speed so that I can use it for the next year. I need to decide if its 4 sheets of OIV Pro or 4 sheets of MX-P. Getting back to the subject, opinions of people who have switched would be helpful. Thanks |

A brief threadjack (sorry): Interesting that the trait that seguso mentions as m1's strength (reliability in counterloop) was the exact same trait mentioned as m2's weakness by many players (who mentioned that sometimes the ball goes into the net while counterlooping with m2). Back to the topic: I'm very high on both rubbers. If you can get either for $44 or less, they're a better option than the Tenergies for most players. A difference I found was that M1 was easier to generate spin with. Hence, it is a better BH rubber than MX-P.

That's absolutely true, but for m2 it is due to the hardness, which is medium (42.5 donic scale). No rubber that soft can be reliable at very high power. It will go into the net. But mx-p has a hard sponge (like m1 I'd say). So it is not excusable. The problem, I suspect, is due to the softness of the topsheet in mx-p, which is not as hard as m1. They probably tuned it so as to produce the same high throw as t05 at medium power, but at high power under extreme stress it just does not hold up. I can feel the cheapness of the material used in the topsheet: it is not dynamic enough. It reminds me of globe 999's topsheet or mercury II, if you know what I mean. I thought MX-P was fine, but I prefer T05. It just seems like there is a slightly greater margin for error all around with Tenergy, and not just on topspin. I think it is quite possible boosting would solve this but I never tried it. MX-P is certainly not a bad rubber. I liked it better than M2. It is the only non-Tenergy rubber I stuck with for several months. I recently tried the next softer one in the Evolution series on a friend's Maze and I thought it was even better.

Thanks, I guess its MX-P for now, though I might try EL-P too. Now just need to find someone who sells them cheap (around $43 per sheet shipped, 3 sheets) :)

I would say 73 grams uncut gives 53 grams on a regular size cut. |

I just glued MX-P max to a back-up Liu Shiwen for trial.
75 grams uncut!! I should have used 2.0 thickness instead. Given the sponge hardness, I think 2.0 should be sufficient for most players < 2500. |
