What means: "rated S5 ITTF-approved smooth rubber"? Where I can see ITTF rubber rating including S5 rubber? Thanks Edited by ING - 12/04/2013 at 5:38am |

I've never heard of this... it's probably either a mis-spelling, or some marketing term to make it sound like an official rating. What rubber is it? I bet it's Chinese-made, right?

Yes that's probably it, although the wording is slightly different.
In other words, it's a pre-made bat, and the ratings are pretty much meaningless. For that sort of price you're probably better off with a custom bat ING. |

I think the terms S5 ITTF approved refer to the markings on the rubber as an ID for specific Stiga rubbers rather then the blade.

s5 is the rubber name on the preassembled bat.

Thanks everybody,
I am thinking lineup32 is right. I've found web http://www.ittf.com/_front_page/ittf1.asp?category=rubber It is ITTF1 Racket Coverings where S5 under #16 before #17 Calibra LT Plus. Question: Is this neighborhood means something? I mean how that rubbers ranged in the table - by some parameters? |

I’ve bought Stiga Pro Carbon with S5 rubber: Speed 99, Spin 100, Control 80.
I already have tried it. Excellent spin! Solid control, Speed good enough for that range of price – I get it for $69.99 in the Big 5. Amazon is asking for 109.99. Looks like there are the same rackets. |

I don't think the covering list is arranged in any particular order other than maybe that's the order the approvals were applied for or granted or even just listed alphabetically by name. For playing characteristics you will need to consult the manufacturer or dealer. |

How it is possible to make choice among vast variety of approximately same class (about 5 stars) Stiga rackets?
All of them have S5 rubber, almost all of them have 7 veneers (except STIGA Evolution 6 veneers). Prices also don't help - rackets with absolutely same parameters like STIGA Pro Carbon :$109.99 vs. STIGA Carbo7 Price: $79.99 or STIGA Fury Advance Price:$109.99 vs. STIGA Carbo Advance Price: $89.95 have the different prices; while STIGA Pro Carbon Price: $109.99 vs. STIGA Fury Advance (FL) Price: $109.99 have the same price but control of STIGA Pro Carbon has much higher rating (80 vs.37). Descriptions of the rackets on the internet very brief and do not allows make any compare of rackets. There are some recommendations? Edited by ING - 12/16/2013 at 9:37pm |

Choices a bitch sometimes.. just take your time and create a matrix of your playing style and try to find blades that seem to fit that niche. If you take your time and are thoughtful you can narrow the choices so that whatever blade you go with will be fine. Probably will not be your last blade ...also consider a custom blade maker most have loaners, standing inventory and are glad to visit and discuss there blades either in person or via e-mail.
Enjoy the process have fun...

ING,
after you wear out that Stiga premade bat, do you yourself a favor, and never buy another one. Those things are superglued together... disposable hype. Does a 100 dollar stiga premade play better than a 7 dollar sportcraft? the answer is yes... but the better answer is a 40 dollar custom paddle, which will play much better, and will have a blade you can use forever when I first started taking the game serious, guess what I thought was the ultimate? ans: a stiga 5 star paddle... now you couldn't give me one for free
