I heard ZLC is great with Tenergy 05 which is kind of medium-hard rubber.
Anyone try them with H3 or Chinese rubbers? Is it a good match?

ZLF is better than ZLC IMO. Just giving my humble opinion.

How is ZLF better? And you mean as it pairs with H3 or Tenergy?

I have a friend who has used the Innerforce ZLF with H3 Neo who said it couldn't be any more terrible. He is now using the ZLC with TG3 Neo and couldn't be happier.

I am confused. You meant ZLC+H3= Very Horrible and ZLC+TG3 Neo= Very Good. They should not be that much diff. |

Don't get confused on me here. ZLF + H3 Neo = no good. ZLC + TG3 Neo = godly
I've read the Butterfly patent for the Tamca 5000 and Arylate fiber. The differences in stiffness, frequency of first mode of vibration and damping ratio are mathematically significant. I suppose the same to be true for Zylon fiber. |

I didn't like h3 with mizutani... Too softish mushy feel... But this might be due more to wood then the fibre material!

I used to use H3 with Timo Boll ZLC, it was neither bad nor good. I think ALC would be a safer bet if you choose a composite blade with H3.

I tried Jun Mizutani ZLC, Viscaria, Zhang Jike blade, TBS and Barwell fleet and now W968. All with H3neo which is my forehand rubber for almost 3 years. I think every blade can fit the H3neo. The more bouncing and hard you choose the blade, the less you have the absorbing effect of the H3neo, because the dwelltime decreases. So it dépends on the effect you are searching.
I did not try ZLF but it's the softer fiber I know. Perhaps too soft for H3 or not different with an all wood blade. |

I have TB ALC. But I read somewhere here that ZLC is spinnier & more dwell (with Tenergy). Not sure about H3 though.

That is still confusing. Both rubbers are pretty close. I never find a blade that is good with one and very bad with other {same hardness). They play little diff but not night & day. I think your friend got FK/Bad H3 Neo.

Let's get this straighten out once and for all.
Here is your question: "I heard ZLC is great with Tenergy 05 which is kind of medium-hard rubber. Anyone try them with H3 or Chinese rubbers? Is it a good match?" Here is my answer. "Innerforce ZLC + TG3 Neo = terrific" Since my friend happens to have tried the Innerforce ZLF as well, I added that "Innerforce ZLF + H3 Neo = terrible" I even embedded his match video for you to examine. He has won quite a few titles at city-wide opens both in singles and doubles. Rest assured it was not the sheet. He thought it was a bad glue job, and had it redone numerous times. Didn't like it. Later he tried T05. Still didn't like it. Go figure. He went on to try Jun Mizutani for a short while. Then came the Innerforce ZLC, he has stayed with it for over a year. He used Spinart for some time before switching to TG3 Neo due to cost. |

Zeio.I see it now. You refered to both ZLF and ZLC.
Sorry, my bad. I did not look at diff behind ZL_. That is why it 's confusing me. So ZLC is good with Chinese rubber Thanks.

[Lightbulb moment]Ugh! That's the reason Butterfly art designers use ZLCarbon/ZLFiber on the blade face and package! Genius!!

That's weird. I tried the IF ZLC with TG3 Neo and couldn't be more disgusted. I could loop and hit at MAX effort and could not hit the ball past my practice partner at all. He said he could hit it back all day and I was exhausted.

That's certainly weird. We've switched paddles and I could outlast him in a counterloop rally away from table on forehand and he could do the same to me on backhand. It comes down to technique. Nonetheless, the woody flex does feel a little awkward at first, not something you'd usually expect of a composite blade.
PS I want to add that after he has tried my setup, he liked it so much he actually got himself a Viscaria. Guess what. He didn't like it, so there you have it. Edited by zeio - 01/29/2014 at 12:28am |

That is what I am afraid off. I played with some blades. The loops go in nicely with power and paths. But somehow the other sides block them easily also.

Commercial H3 is not that fast but if you play close to the table with an OFF blade it is OK. Currently I have H3 on the FH of a BCX5 and it works well. I have 802-1 1.8mm on the BH.
H3 is not the kind of rubber you want to get into loop and counter loop exchanges away from the table but close to the table it works well. Now get real. I see very few loop and counter loop exchanges until both player are above 2000 or better. |

I beg to be different. Close to table, it is great. Mid to Far from table, it is still great. It is a matter if you are used to it. You need to loop like loop drive, (partial hit & partial brush), crush the ball and let it sink in. Far away from table and use brush loop with H3 will do you no good. |

I may have gotten a bad sheet, but the TG2 still did not work for me... and I am likely the most powerful at my club.
