Tibhar 5Q Power Update weight: 68 grams uncut (approx) hardness: medium+ speed: off Tibhar 5Q Sound Power Update Weight: 66 grams approx. Hardness: Medium soft SPeed: off Both rubbers have different topsheet structures compared to the first generation 5Q rubbers in which the topsheet of the newer ones have a slightly longer pip structure. I wasn't able to take pictures of the old and new topsheets side by side due to my poor camera capability (I was using a different one in the past) Let's just say that I felt like I was using 2 different rubbers compared to the 1st generation 5Q rubbers. In terms of the speed, the newer 5Q rubbers have an improvement of speed by a few notches. The older regular 5Q has some sort of hard dead feeling sometimes when you are hitting or looping with it while the power update version is livelier and faster. The same goes with the old 5Q sound rubber which i felt was the slowest Q series rubber up to date. The 5Q power update is almost in the speed level of the Tibhar FX-P while the 5Q Sound power update is definitely slower than the FX-P. There is also an improvement of spin generation for both rubbers. The old 5Q sound was spinny and the old 5Q regular was one of the spinniest Tibhar Rubber that was made in its generation of euro rubbers. Both the power update rubbers have a notch higher amount of spin generation. The 5Q sound power update has positive reviews from those who have tested them compared to the older 5Q sound. They love the increase in speed and also an increase slightly in spin. The 5Q power update is livelier than ever. The ol 5Q was alread yvery good at loops and spin drives this is in a different level. The 5Q sound power update is loud but the old 5Q seems louder in sound. |

Thanks for the review. How does 5Q Power Update compare to 5Q VIP?

let's just say that the evolution series rubbers need a higher level of skill in order to fully utilize their potential whereas the Q series are much easier to use with the exception of the 1Qxd which is very fast

the VIp version is faster but when spinning you need to hit through the sponge more on the VIP while on the power update mild grazing on the ball produces much more spin.

Interesting. Does your VIP topsheet look the same as the one on Power Update?

The power update sounds like they're selling regular 5Qs with an extra bit of tuning, would you think this is a possibility after your tests?
The fact it's just a badge on top of the normal packaging doesn't go against this idea, at least. |
