Holy flying pigeon poop!!!  $339.95 for a freaking table tennis blade!!??  When I was a little lad you could buy a four bedroom house for that kind of money.

If you got it you might as well flaunt it though I've my doubts as to whether or not this bad boy will give you a $339.95 game, unless your name happens to be Jun Mizutani.

Berndt: I suggest that you use the search function - don't start new threads on existing topics / blade discussions if you can avoid it.

Regarding cost: that's chump change. The Nittaku Resound blade costs $3,315 (not kidding)

At what website did you find, Slevin, a Nittaku Resound blade costing $3,315?  That is celestially ridiculous.

Okay, the ball is in your court.  Why don't you start a thread on the Equipment Section of this forum regarding the merits of this megaexpensive wonderweapon?

Good God Almighty!  What is it made of?  3,000 year old bristlecone pine?

Here's the story:

" The Resoud Story – Forest fostered the ultimate table tennis blade The original “Violin blade” was born at the beginning of 1990s. At that time, Mr. Nakata who was a staff of one of the world famous manufacturer of guitars just started to develop unheard-of table tennis blade which was applied stringed instrument production technology. However his dream did not come true. Ten years has passed since then, Mr. Junichi Matsui, Development Section Chief of Nittaku Company found out one of this sample blade in his belongings by chance and this story had been developed again. He tried and tested again and again for dozens of kinds of glue used for stringed instruments. Also the Japanese top players willingly helped him to make tests of several samples of table tennis blades to inspect the most suitable combination between glue and plywood for the table tennis blade. After repeated trial and error, the flexibility and the impetus fused and ideal blade finally was born. The name of this blade was “Violin” because it was produced by applying stringed instruments production technology. “Whenever customers asked me if plywood materials of “Violin” blade were the same as violin of stringed instruments or not, I had to answer that the plywood materials were not the same as violin but we just applied the stringed instruments production technology. And since then I had a dream that one day I could produce the blade made of the same plywood of violin instruments.” Said Mr. Matsui and his dream took an unexpected turn. In 2007 autumn, one of table tennis fan brought Resoud forest home-grown spruce wood which was used by very famous atelier for top quality guitar in Vallee de Joux, Switzerland to his office. Resoud forest home-grown spruce wood is so-called world finest quality wood and a famous Stradivarius is also made with this wood, it means that this spruce wood is an authentic violin material. The red dyed color wood of the grip is imported from Europe and brown wood of the grip is wenge wood which is used in body and finger board of guitar. Besides, the “Resoud” brass plate on the grip end represents luxury status. Resoud blade has special close surface, just-fit grip and very clear sound when hitting the ball. When you meet Resoud blade, you surely will feel the soul of Resoud forest which has been creating the finest stringed instruments over the hundreds years! "

Is this a table tennis racket for a table tennis player or a musician who owns a Stradivarius and has a lot of disposable income to blow plus free time to play deluxe TT between practicing and concerts?

We have come a long way from the $6 11-ply MacCrossen blade, each European birch veneer lovingly glued together with the finest of hide glues available in the late 1930s, haven't we?

Music wedded to table tennis at an unheard of price?  Possible, I suppose.  Music was once wedded to table tennis when the cost of a blade that one could break and replace ran from $3.50 to the $6.00 for the deluxe 11-ply MacCrossen.  Oh the tearing of hair and gnashing of teeth should some table tennis whale inadvertently bust one of these Nittaku rarities against the edge of the table vainly trying to loop a no spin no bounce junk shot.

Why should I?

People have silly money. They have hobbies. They spend money just as there are others in the world for whom $67 is a month's income. Hell, my 1st job after engineering was for a whopping $32 a month at British Telecom.

Let's get used to this part of life rather than cribbing about things that aren't worth cribbing about.

How much would you spend on this:

There are probably hundreds of thousands of middle income Americans out there ponying up $750 for a smartphone they don't know most of the features of, only to spend that much money again for a newer model a few years later...

Enough pointless discussion - back to TT life...

Is this Giacometti sculpture? Looks like it(very skinny figures) but not sure.

If it is indeed Giacometti - I can't afford that  Cry and it's definitely more than Resoud blade. Which I could buy. But I won't.

Yes. It is good, but how much would you pay for it?

It sold for over $100 million recently.

Resoud is actually much more "affordable" (if I may say so at all), because of 30% discount at TT11 for orders over 300eur. At that price Nittaku still should give at least ittf table and a robot for free with every Resoud purchase (and free shipping, of course).

Regarding JM SZLC, its price in Europe is 400usd.
