    Posted: 03/12/2015 at 12:58am
Hello everyone,

I've been using the Galaxy W6 setup in my signature for the past couple of years now, but I'm in need of something fresh.  It's not that I have any issues with my current setup.  In fact, I'm almost absolutely happy with my setup, but the EJ bug has bitten me and I want to try something new.

The Butterfly Primorac OFF- stood out to me, and it looks like a staple classic within the Butterfly brand.  Can anyone comment on the differences between these two blades?  Also, any suggestions for cheaper chinese rubber on the Primorac?

I'm left handed, primarily backhand block/attack with a looping forehand.

Thanks!

Primorac will be softer and spinnier.  You'll have more dwell, which means harder to hit flat counters.  The ball will want to come up and down more.

Primorac will vibrate and you will lose control. Yes, softer and flexier and will be easier to spin the ball, but you really need to put extreme focus on this to justify switching.
If you feel ready for something fresh and want to be amazed, I think its time to peel off one of these door mats that you have glued to your blade and put a real rubber. Everything will seem like a catapult to you after getting used to your current rubbers. You can get Rhyzm for less thatn $30 shipped these days.. even tenergy is less than 50. Dollar is having the day of his life and as long as you live in USA, now is the time to treat yourself with a good rubber.

You have been playing with Galaxy W6 for more than 2 years and now want to get a Primorac -OFF?  Common dude, live a little, and get something more exotic Smile.  Believe me, you don't have the EJ bug, and you will stay with the new blade for at least another 2 years, so choose wisely LOL.

I've thought about just switching rubber and was really intrigued by the Joola Rhyzm. Where can I find it for under $30!? Everywhere I've seen it's at least $45.

Haha, I totally understand, but the Primorac OFF- is the only thing within my price range that's within the scope of "brand names."  If I had extra cash, I'd be looking at either the Timo Boll Spirit or the Viscaria.

I really don't want do experiment with chinese blades that might "just as good" as their brand name counterparts, but if you have any suggestions then I'm open to them.

Honestly, I would keep the blade and change rubbers W6 is a great blade and pairs well with most rubbers.

Thanks Cole!  I actually bought my setup directly from you based on your love for the W6 and it's actually been pretty awesome since.

P.S. I've gotten all my friends at work into TT and am sending them your way for their first "real" paddle.  I believe one of them already bought the premade buster and is just waiting for it to appear on his doorstep.  Thanks for being a great asset to this forum!

If you want a brand name blade for that price, consider a donic blade.

XIOM has good offerings in that price range too. Although under $50 they will all play much or less like W6.

I can offer you $10 off of this one. It will be a nice boost from your blade without the craziness of carbon. Pretty easy transition imo.

Since you know a lot about the W6, which of the donor blades would be a logical step up if I were looking for a bit of "umph" but maintain control?

I'll let someone with more current knowledge answer that one.  It's been several years since I sampled them.

I have used Galaxy W6 before, it is true it is almost the same as the YE, however, I found block and flat hitting the ball really does not work that well with W6, YE. If you want to upgrade to a modern blade, I will say give sword blue feather or gold feather a try. I have been using blue feather for nearly 3 years, and I found it to be a very decent product compare to the butterfly ZLC line of blades.
My setup is blue feather + DHS H3 + BTY T80

I'm intrigued by the limited reviews on the sword blue feather. Where can I purchase one? They don't seem widely available.

Perhaps a Waldner senso carbon? It's not a crazy fast carbon blade as the carbon layer is very thin and deeper in the blade, and it's very good for looping. Speed wise probably a bit faster than a w6, but not a big difference.

I think that might be the one! Any idea how it will go with something like H3 Neo or Rhyzm?

Actually, that's the one I was thinking of too, but figured their lineup might be different now.  Diablo was a nice blade.
