Sorry, paul, but that's just plain misinformation.  There are banned solvents.  As long as you don't use a banned solvent you can use anything you want.  You can use maple syrup and nitro glycerin if they're not on the banned list.

Please let me know if I can be of assistance.

np

But basically you can use Thinner, D-limonene, lighter fluid and Butyl and Ethyl Acetate and mix it with Rubber Cement.

I've tried (and currently using) the receipes from the other thread. Petroleum Distillate (Lighter fluid) works okay. Depending on the rubber cement, i've noticed that they are rather thick in texture and i prefer thin glue so that i don't get a lot of glue build up.

I found a petroleum distillate that's being used to clean oil paitings at the local art supply store (called odourless solvent) and started using this. It seems that the speed glue effects last longer about 2 days.

I was thinking of giving up speed glueing because it has become rather expensive and i thought that long lasting speed glue will do me, but these glues are still expensive.

So go and try the receipes, they are highly recommended and most of all cheap. I was thinking of giving up speed glue but now I'm back!

If you're worried about health, hear this. A woman once beleived that she could be ultimately healthy if she drank a ton of water and only ate perfect nutrition. This woman died of kidney failure from drinking an overload of water. So don't get too scared for your health. BTW, teflon non-stick frying pans are as likely to contribute to cancer as speed glue is.
Peace out.
