i dont think there is such a thing, since all inverted rubbers can be used for defensive styla, but the ones rated defensive are rated like that because they are slow.

Although not explicitly "defensive," TSP Agrit Speed is pretty fast and great for chopping.  I've tried it both as an offensive backhand rubber and a forehand modern defense style rubber.  Works great for both, but a little soft for my taste on FH.

OP, this is right. Looking for a rubber that's magically fast on offense and slow on defense is a waste of effort. You'll want something with at least some surface adhesion; anything less than Tenergy's level of it will be a bitch to chop with. If you're giving up chopping and lobbing instead, it's not a def rubber on that side anymore anyway.

If you're not going to fh chop much anyway, then by definition you don't need a def rubber. Tenergy is alright for chopping except too fast. A dead tenergy (aka Yinhe Moon/Mars type hybrid rubbers) will probably work better.

What makes a rubber or blade offensive or defensive is the player.

what is Joo Sae Hyuk using on his backhand now? it's inverted for sure. I Guess I would recommend the same setup :P

Save some money and buy TG Skyline 3 Neo. Especially on the Joo blade, this rubber is plenty fast and more than enough spinny.

For the record, I think the Xiom Yanus sucks. It's very fast and uncontrollable. I tried the 1.5 and found Tenergy 64 max better for chopping!

Nittaku Moristo DF, soft spinny rubber. Real nice for the backhand. Recieves serves well, blocks very well giving back dead no spin balls. It pushes real spinny and also very good chopping rubber for my backhand. One quality I like is that it seems to have bigger tolerance for error on my part. Loops and spins very well, speed can be quite good depending on the blade.

According to the latest interview I found, in 2013 he was using:

Blade:  Joo SaeHyuk
FH Rubber:  Butterfly Tenergy 64
BH Rubber:  TSP Curl P-1

There may be more updated info elsewhere, or if anyone has seen his racket in the last year or so.  As far as I know it has always been long pips on the backhand.  Would be very difficult to play his style at his level without them.

For sure it's near impossible. Just look at how few SP choppers there are and that's already easier than inverted. The P1-R he's using is fairly grippy LP though.

Joola timeless may be the fast defensive rubber you are looking for... if you put it on timo Boll tricarbon or something. :)

I think he used Feint II and Grass D'Tech in the past also.  Each has its own strengths and weaknesses for chopping.  It will be interesting to see what he sticks with for the new Plastic-balls, that may have prompted his change to P-1.

Someone if curious enough could probably look in the pros equipment discussion and find the latest pictures of his racket.  I'm sure some inquiring EJ has posted a picture there.

Is it fast rubber with good control.

Or

A fast long-pip rubber ?

I'm no longer an EJ and I'm proud .
