Can someone compare the Viscaria (silver tag) vs. the Mizuntani Jun Super ZLC and/or Zhang Jike Super ZLC?
Please note that I'm looking for a comparison to the SZLC, not the regular ZLC. thanks a lot!

MJSZLC and ZJSZLC are a bit different from each other for starters (in terms of compositions). But in general you could probably say that both are a bit faster (especially on harder hits) than the average Viscaria. Yet on softer shots, such as passive blocks, pushes and short drops, the SZLC blades have a softer "more controlled" feel than the ALC of the Viscaria. I'm hesitant to use terms like "more controlled" as I think it's a personal perception type of thing, but hopefully you know what I mean. Overall, the ZJSZLC is a bit more similar to Viscaria than the MJSZLC (given the composition with koto outers), but ALC and SZLC feels very different, in my opinion, so they're really not that alike.
My sense is that the feel of Zylon and Super Zylon is many times a "love or hate" situation. Some people seem to love the feel, referring to it having almost a natural wood feel but with the power of carbon, while others find the feel odd. It's nice to get some other people's perspective, but in reality you'll need to try them out for yourself to draw your own conclusions on how the blades compare.

Yeah, really want to try them but not many people here have these blades unfortunately. So i'm trying to figure out if I should take the plunge.
How is the arc? I read that the ZJ SZLC has a pretty low one - which would make it quite different from the Viscaria indeed which is would describe as having a pretty high arc?

See, I feel like Viscaria (especially the newer ones) have a fairly low arc. In my experience, the MJZLC and MJSZLC have a slightly higher arc, which I attribute to the Limba outers. Perhaps on harder shots, where the ball really activates the entire gamut of the compositions, you could argue that the (S)ZLCs have a lower arc because of the speed, but I'm not sure that makes any sense. Then again, these are just my personal perceptions, which may be entirely different from others. Sorry if I'm not helpful.

My 2 viscarias have higher arc than my JMzlc which has lower arc.The difference is very big if u play with my 2 viscarias vs my JMzlc, not only in the spin, but also in direct hits!

Imo unless youre playing above 2400 rating, there is no need for szlc.
Viscaria will give you plenty of power. There are alternatives to arylate. If you can, try and find someone with a xiom hayabusa or vega pro and hit with it. I love my zxi. Find vega pro too soft but some people like the feel. Zephyllium is the future! |

I've used Arylate blades numerous times throughout my whole TT ventures (TBS, IF AL, IF ALC, Viscaria, Timo Boll ALC, Bazelart), and I have always noticed these are very HIGH throw blades.
I also played and EJ'd on some ZL/ ZLC blades (IF ZLF, Timo Boll ZLF, MJ, IF ZLC), and noticed that the ZLC blades have a lower throw angle; with the exemption of the ZLF blades which seems higher than the ALC but still lower than the AL HIGH:LOW rating - AL>ZLF>ALC>ZLC In conclusion, ZLC blades are ideal for long distance play

Agree. Love my ZXI! When they were just introduced I tried ZJ SZLC and really liked it. Then I bought ZXI, got used to it and like it a lot. Since I was still dreaming about ZJ SZLC I tried it recently...and...to my surprise did not like it. Don't get me wrong, it is a very good blade but less flex, slightly lower throw, and less feeling on sharp contact with the ball comparing to my ZXI. Well, another plus is that it looks better than ZXI :) |
