    Posted: 07/19/2015 at 10:25pm
I have a customer who has ordered from me a very heavy blade and a sheet of long pimple cloud and fog rubber (just one side)
the customer is getting what his son choose, (I think he is a learner) and getting his first custom bat
I emailed the father to explain that he has ordered heavy blade with big handle and 1 sheet of long pimple rubber ,,,, and  I could recommend a better setup for his son
the reply is along the lines of "he choose it so he can live with it"

I like people to go away happy with their choices but making/letting a child order the wrong product
so that they will learn/suffer ,,,  and have to re-buy later

so whats better let them learn the hard way and not like the sport (or he may like it lol)
or let them listen and get products more likely to suit their needs

You did your best to disuade this guy but in the end the parenting choices of other people are out of your control. He should have listened to you. Oh well.

Smack 'em?  Tongue

I take it they ordered through your site given the emailing?  Perhaps put up some kind of combo recommendation for kids/newbies to make their lives easier?

This reminds me of my friend's experience.  He came back to the sport after a decade and needed a new setup(played penhold inverted).  He picked up an Xiom's Ryu Seung Min Platinum during a trip to South Korea.  Guess what he paired it up with once he was back at the local shop?  Some kind of Friendship raw pips.  Well, it only set him back a few bucks.

Hmm, I find this post interesting. My firsy ever custom shakehand blade is a heavy 729 allround, friendhip 40h and dhs cloud. It was fifteen years ago. I was coached by china provincial team coach. He only say the overall is a bit slow and trying to learn to be a chopper is stupid. Other than those, he said the racket is perfectly fine.

Other than original cloud and fog is no longer in ittf approval list. I am sure with proper coaching. It will be fine. Back then, my coash even teach me how to ralley against normal rubber consistently.

yes in your case you knew you were buying a long pimple rubber and some inverted on the other side, In this case Im 99% sure the customer thinks he is getting some kind of finished bat lol
and not a long pips stuck on to a 10mm thick heavy wooded 1 ply blade with no rubber on the other side (shakehand style)
I emailed him to ask for his phone number to explain again, but he never answerd and courier coming in a few hours tick tick tick
the other thing is I could sell another rubber Wink
