Tried recording myself play for the first time, i failed miserably as most of the videos ended up with the focus being on and off(i realized i need to use the fixed focus mode on my phone's camera app)
Whatever decent video i was able to get, i m posting here.

I m the guy in the red shirt and black/yellow shorts

I m hoping i can get some valuable tips on what i could improve, and how i should go about it.

If it helps with assessing my game, I m 6ft tall and weigh around 185lbs.

Nice statics.  Even Coach K will have a hard time giving you constructive advice with all that noise.

Set them to public.

I don't see in the video clips where it shows that he does or does not have a backhand loop.  What he does show for a backhand counter-hit stroke was decent. On the other hand, the forehand looks like a bigger concern: lack of body motion, body motion not in synch with arm motion, and a really high upward motion on the stroke.  The modern FH loop doesn't usually require the stroke ending above the head, unless maybe you're looping against underspin.

not too bad, training with the 2nd person will help you more as the first person sort of does a chop block by accident
picking the right forehand for the right time is something to work on, sometimes going to the ball and sometimes getting you feet out of the way for bigger loops

You could have made your comments independent of mine but since you decided to comment so expertly about mine, how many people with a good backhand loop refuse to integrate it within an exercise where they are FH looping unless they have issues controlling/using it?

I wish people could post their own strokes when making comments as this would help inform them.  His forehand is not so bad that one should be concerned about it and it has some very good elements.  It can be improved by more aggressive contact and timing but is clearly a competent stroke for his level. You are right that he can finish lower and more forward and get a higher quality ball, more so because he is tall.

Hi rocketman222,

I think you have some ways to improve your forehand loop.
See your laster video (vik-brian-2), your contacts with the ball is right after the beginning of your FH loop motion. YOu have two ways to make your FH more efficient :
The easy way : keep the same preparation but try to shorter your motion after the impact to hit the ball ~in the middle~ of your FH loop motion.
The hard way : prepare your FH lower, bend your legs to have a lower body, to impact the ball ~in the middle~ of your FH loop motion.

I think the camera angle might be affecting us a little and that the loop might be better than it looks from where the camera is situated.  That said, it would be nice to hear rocketman's responses to the different pieces of advice offered.

Thank you all for taking time out and reviewing.

Forehand Loop: I agree with you all that the finishing of the loop is high, also it seems like i do not put any torso/lower body into the loop, from what you guys suggest i m going to try to

a. start the loop a little bit lower with some extra torso twist
b. try and end the swing near my nose/chin instead of the forehead

@NextLevel/Benfb: I do have a backhand loop however i do not posses the arm speed to use it at close range or near the table, which is why i counter hit at that range on my backhand, unless its a backspin ball. I will try and see if i can increase my backhand drive hand speed to be able to drive at close range instead of mid-distance.

It's not so much hand speed as technique.  This video might help you understand what is required to get the hand speed.

This timing of backswing so that you don't pause at the end also affects your forehand but not as significantly since you make up for the power elsewhere, though I think fixing it will help there as well.

As for the forehand, end it around your eyes/forehead - just bend forward more and get a bit lower and that will take care of it.  I think you stroke looks fine but it looks really straight and high from where the camera is.  You could stroke more forwards as well.

I would start the loop a little higher.  If you start lower the follow through will end up higher.  If you start higher the stroke will be more of a back to front stroke.  You would still use the body parts.

1. On your FH topspin your whole arm is too stiff, wait for the ball a little more to come into your comfort zone and then brush it with relaxed motion

2. Your index finger is way too high on the paddle this prevents you from using lots of wrist motion. The tip of your index finger should touch gently the paddle and control the direction/acceleration of your shot. Dont touch the rubber with the whole finger, close your fingers in your handle and then experiment with how much "tip" of your index should touch, some players preferes 100 % some less

3.Grip the paddle as it is a part of your body and a physical extension of it. Not too loose not to firm, experiment again. In topspins especially your arm should act like a whip
