It is really interesting, but I received very unusual Barna paddle these days.
Could you recognize the model?
I made photo where the unknown model is over the standard red label rounded logo Barna blade.
Handle is longer but head is looking half size :))
The wood is thick between 6.0-6.2mm, rubbers are pips out both sides, but the yellow very soft sponges are available too. Most strangest here is the size of that paddle - 142mm wide and 165mm long, looking like some old Jpen style blade. The red labels are partly visible, but they are definitely more smaller than each other Barna red labels I have seen.
The paddle is 144 grams, pretty light and playing with it is more than fun.
Do you think it is some Junior model and which year it is made in the 60's?
Construction and materials are close to the paddle of Angelica Rozeanu that I had before time.

After my 2nd attempt to test that paddle I realized it is not acceptable to keep it in original condition, so I tried to remove the rubbers. What happened - for my surprise that blade is signed or just marked with letter "B".
Glue used for these rubbers I have never seen in another paddle. I just cleaned with part of cotton that unknown kind of glue just over the letter, so it is absolutely visible now.
Still looking for advice what exactly is this model Barna blade and what about the sign posted.
I made photos where is visible I have not posted this letter by myself. It is under the glue.

The B looks totally different from the B in Barna's signature. Send an email to ITTF museum and ask them. They can probably tell you or point you in the right direction.

Hi, thanks for your post. But here in the forum there are many collectors too, may be someone could give me more light about the story with that blade.
ITTF museum is my last option.
Now, after removing the original rubbers and cleaning the blade it is 88 grams and pretty speedy for an all wood blade with that thickness. I could say it is at the level of Mazunov OFF+, but has a little more crisper feel.
Inside the wood is like many other blades, but do you know what kind of wood are the outer plies?
I am not sure if it is dark limba...

Thank you, but my blade is not there.
I have in mind that letter B could be just a mark from the wood-maker to show him this wood is for Barna handles.
So, may be more models are produced with this wooden structure I think.
I believe it is not Barna's handwritten letter, but you never know.
Any contact details with ITTF museum? I sent request to [email protected] and I received answer from the system that mail address is not valid.

Still have no any answer from ITTF Museum.
By the way, I found a photo where Barna is playing with some paddle looking like my own.
