How do sponges and topsheets affect spin? |

Im new to table tennis and was wondering how do sponges and topsheets effect spin seperately?

I'm sure there are more qualified people to answer this question than I am. However I'll take a stab at it !
Sponges come in various sizes, ranging from 1.0-2.2mm the more common sizes 1.8mm, 2.0mm, 2.2mm(Max). So far from what I learned is the more sponge you have, the more the ball will have a chance to "sink" into the sponge and build up friction to produce more spin. You tend to see loopers using 2.0mm-2.2mm sponge. If you don't have a developed loop then I would recommend 1.5mm-1.8mm sponge 2.0 at the max. Hope this helps you out!
