    Posted: 02/02/2016 at 10:55pm
We have a new club member who just moved to the US to be with his daughter and her family.  He speaks Hindi, but very little English.  He is planning on attending the World Veterans Championships in Spain in May.  He has asked me (through his son-in-law) to coach him and help him get ready for that event.  I was wondering if anyone knows of any good on-line TT instructional videos in Hindi.

In case you are wondering, he is not completely delusional.  Somehow a couple of things I showed him when he visited several months ago really helped his game.  So now he actually believes I know something about coaching TT.  I don't have the heart (or the language skills) to tell him the truth, so I am going to do my best to help him.

If you really want a laugh, imagine an aging Texan trying to "translate" Brett Clarke's Aussie teddy bear looping video to a Indian who does not speak English.  I can see him doing anything from buying his daughter a Vermont Teddy Bear for Valentine's day to joining PETA in order to prevent cruelty to animals after I demo that video in person.

Whatever you do, do NOT teach him technique is everything.

So far I have made a giant protractor so I can show him that he should be bending his knees 125 deg (not 120 or 130)  and the forearm/upper arm angle should be 165 deg  at the end of the Fh backswing.

I have built this track out of that flexible gas pipe so I can have him lay his paddle on in and have the perfect swing plane.   It is flexible so we can perfect both his convex and concave loop swing planes.

I am working on this combination of video swing analysis software on the smart phone combined with a electric dog training shock collar so that he can get instant negative feedback if his swing deviates even slightly from that of Ma Long.

I estimate that in less than 4 weeks I can have his game completely messed up.

Looks like you've got a plan there. May I suggest a bollywood warm up!

Jrscatman,

If those nice ladies led the warm-up before each of our sessions, I bet our club membership would really increase.

If I tried that warm-up I would not have to worry about my TT technique anymore  since I would be spending a long time in the hospital.

But thanks for thinking about us.
