Replacing Motor on Newgy 2040

Yes, I replaced mine myself. The motor has a special pinion gear at the end of the shaft that fits perfectly into the wheel. It's basically the same motor that you can buy at a radio supply store, but because the specialized part, I ordered it from newgy. Are you comfortable with soldering?

They preferred I send in the robot because it was under warranty. They sent me a motor for free though, in exchange to void the 2 months lefts on the warranty and save themselves the shipping cost. They are very quick to answer the phone or email to get you a price.

It's not that hard to do. Newgy robots are well designed and can definitely be fixed by most owners. The manual shows how everything goes together really well.

Come to think of it, those motors are perfectly suited to a solder free option. You can get "female push on spade terminals". They clip perfectly on the two prongs on the motor and in my opinion are more secure than an amateur soldering. I always think of solder right away because I inherited tons of it from my dad. It's still my go to regardless of how many times I swear and burn myself, haha.
