Hey everyone,
Just got my Korbel Japan in the mail, decided to test it out, and did some multiball. Feel free to watch and leave your analysis down below. Looking to micro adjust my technique for this playing season. Thanks, SmackDAT. |

Your backhand seems to be at a really closed angle. Looks like the wrist/grip.

Your game is hopeless, especially considering you are in the UK. You should immediately move to South Texas and start practicing with me. Or better yet move to South Tx and start coaching at our club. Seriously, I think you look better in each video. Keep working on your game and keep posting the videos. You certainly are beyond the level where I feel I can contribute anything useful. Mark

Backhand looks good. On forehand, just like your feeder tells you, try to get your upper body into the shot.

Really good, sorry I don't have any advice to give. Thanks for the video.
Man, I lost it at 2:12 when some guy in the background just screams F***. Also, I find it really impressive to see all those marks on the table from doing multiball. On another note, I bought the Korbel blade for a few of my students a few months ago. It was so cheap for what it was.

My primary critique would be that I feel your backhand starts too close to the table height. In practice and in your matches, you're frequently forced to play upward into the ball.
When you're active in the shot, this seems to work in your favor, but introduces a yank or hitch in the stroke. This could be limiting your handspeed. When you're passive, it tends to give extra height to a return that doesn't generally it. Aside from those points, I think you'd be able to be make active blocks more reliably and have a more comfortable mid-distance backhand. The drawback would be that it would require you to lower yourself to the ball against underspin or a ball that is dropping in front of you.
Final minor suggestion, in your match play try to maintain the same nice posture you have when training. |

Really nice crisp BH, wish I had that kind of BH. I notice that coming from your BH stroke you seem to slightly change your grip going into your FH stroke. Do you actually change your grip between BH to FH?

I think you should just let your coach do the critiquing. Listen to what he says. That's what you're paying him for right? :)
Wish we had that level of instruction with states of where I live. I thought your multiball session looked pretty good. Keep up the good work.

Nice footwork.
How do you develop the foot movement during the stroke? I notice you shift your feet with every stroke. When I perform my stroke, my feet are motionless. Really struggling to develop shifting the feet with the stroke.

Hey there, you have really good technique and footwork.
It's hard to critique your technique with a multiball training video, especially when you did it quite well. The only thing I can say is your FH can be more compact and explosive. Your BH is very good. When you post some matches (especially ones that you lost), the discussion will be much more interesting. |
