It does bear some resemblance to Nittaku Tenaly.

That new rubber that Zeropong carries looks like it is ITTF approved. See link. |

I imagine a combo deal will be pretty unlikely due to the odd shape of the head, just like there's been no combo deal for the toxics yet. $18 is pretty much a steal, but I don't want to waste money buying rubbers for it till I know how it plays, I don't want to be left with cut rubbers I can't put on another blade.
Also, I wonder how that GuoQiu rubber stacks up with the likes of H3. |

You can put Do not assemble, and then compare the sizes yourself first.

Forgive me, all, for drudging up an ancient thread, but I'm curious about the playing experiences of the purchasers of this blade. How'd it work for you?

I have one, it's much faster than advertised, I would put it at the top of offensive speed. It has great control as well.

Do you play with it, much, Skyline? Have you happened to have tried the Nittaku Tenaly? Is it similar/better/worse?

A local talented local cat plays with one and likes it a great deal.
I'll ask him if regular rubbers fit it... it fairly certain they DO. I think the thing he likes about it most is the extra mass (he even wraps the handle somewhat!). Makes for some heavy fast drives & attacks. |

Occasionally use it. I have Higher Transcend 2.2mm on both sides.
Good for topspin (more wrist action due to the angle) on both forehand and backhand. Good control and feel on backhand blocking and countering (although the stroke needed adjustment) Good control and dwell time. Speed is on the upper side of OFF-. But, I think, since the blade is head heavy and slightly oversize, speed on power shots greatly depends on how heavy the rubbers are. Not good for short pushes. Didn't let me feel the ball on touch shots. Also, I ended up hitting the table surface whenever I tried to take the ball early and push it. Could not flip properly (maybe because I have only played with it for a few hours) Could not do fade loops Contrary to one of the reviews, I was able to do pendulum serves. I don't have Nittaku Tenaly (expensive), but looking at its photos, it is a normal shakehand blade with an angled handle. LKT Gun is more than that. Its handle is curved and extremely wide at the neck. Head has a different shape. Head is wider from side-to-side and shorter as measured from the base of the handle to tip of head. As such, regular rubbers don't fit properly (you can try if you don't mind 1/4 inch gap on the side and 1/4 inch overhanging rubber at the tip of the head) You have to hold it with a deep grip (closer to head) in spite of the handle being wide there. It feels different from regular shakehand, so I was tempted to use a shallower grip. With a shallow grip, the balance was just not right. It was too head heavy. Control, blade angle stability and feel for the ball was gone. I had to switch back to deep grip. To summarize, if you are a looper, are OK with a heavier feeling racket, willing to do small adjustments to your strokes, and want to try something different from regular rackets, you can give it a try. |
