Hi everybody,
Today I want to make my review of Nexy Zealot 82 gr. Testing period 2 months, 3 sessions every week by 2-3 hours. Background 2 wing looper however mostly FH looper. Developing BH side now. Not sure about level but based on what I saw on the forum about 1700-1800 USAAT rating. I've red a lot about Nexy's products and really admire their passion and the way they create smth new. I used to play with different blade and currently Zealot is my main blade. Before I played with Xiom Ignito, Nittaku Acoustic, BTY M. Maze, Donic Waldner Offensive. I was always looking for blade that will allow me to be agressive in my game as well as to have control during longer rallies and close to mid distance. Probably I would stick to my previous blades but blamed them for less control, head heaviness etc. Probably it is because I started taking coaching from BTY Maze. First of all, Zealot is true off blade. I paired it with Tibhar Evolutions ELS and FXS 2.0. I feel it has hard top ply because it engages sponge of the rubber even on weak shots. It is quite bouncy with this setup even more bouncy than Maze. Probably because Zealot has harder top ply than Maze. However top speed is obviously slower than Maze (Maybe becuase 87 gr but zealot 82 gr). For me it is very important to have balanced blade so I can use my wrist for flicks actively and recover quickly. Maze, Acoustc were more head heavy. Zealot with quite heavy evo rubbers feels much better. You have to get used to this rubber to control the bounciness in short game. It allows to attack from close-to-md distance. It is not very easy to for opening loops close to the table. Ball tends to go long. However mid distance where ZEALOT shines. This is the distance where you actually feel this NEXY'S DRAGGING (4th generation of nexy's blades). My FH counter loop become so confident as never before. You may add side spin easily while "dragging the ball" with your stroke. For long distance top spin you probably will have problem with speed or you need to pair with faster rubbers like MXP. My BH gets much better with Zealot. Before it was just aweful. Now I am becoming 2 wing looper however my BH need to get trained a lot to make it happen. As for spin generations I noticed I was able to make more spin with more classic movement than with direct like chinese style or short swing like timo boll style=). The reason may be rubber, not sure. Conclusion. It is definitely the blade to consider for those who likes close to mid distance game with agressive top spin attacks however it is not for beginners for sure due to bouncy nature it will not allow to train properly. It works great with Medium to Hard rubbers. Soft rubbers will probably be too mushy and with unexpected throw. Will probably continue my EJing. There are several blades I want to try before I choose the main one for future. Currently testing Nexy special edition Lissom blade for defenders. It is not oversized. Pics and review will update later. |
