A HUGE thank you to "Emihet" for my new addition to my table tennis paddles family... a 1st generation Nittaku Violin with straight handle.  I will be using Tenergy 25 on the forehand and Tibhar Grass D.Tecs long pips on the backhand.  I may possibly switch to Tenergy 25FX.

I recently put Tenergy 25FX on my 1st Gen Butterfly Viscaria S T, which is the paddle I used when I made my Paralympic Program table tennis debut two years ago and made history as the first athlete in history to actively compete with Parkinson's Disease on the Olympic/Paralympic levels.  I will be trying out the paddle tonight for the first time with the 25FX rubber.

I've included a picture here of my 3 favorite blades... the Viscaria S T, Violin, and a super rare Dunlop Barna "Sandwich" paddle that was designed for the sponge game - note the longer handle compared to the typically short Barna handle, as well as the narrower face compared to the wider Barna hardbat face. This Barna Sandwich paddle is made from mahogany wood and it hits great with my specific rubber combination on the forehand/backhand that I will use on the Violin.

Speaking of violin, I'm actually a violinist who has been playing for the last 34 years so I included some pics of both violins I have.  Big smile 

Finally, I'm including some links to two recent television features that tell my story... hope you all enjoy it and feel inspired, as it's my hope to inspire folks to play table tennis for improved health as it has improved both my Parkinson's Disease and heart condition and to inspire folks never to give up and to always have hope.

Kudos and thanks for sharing!

Are you happy with the shape and thinness of the Violin handle? if not, you may consider Violin ST L-Size (the size of the handle is larger, not the whole blade).

Good choice Navin.. You may or may not remember, but I played with Nittaku Acoustic (a slightly faster version of Violin) for years and used pips on it too. until one day I decided that I wanted to become a chopper. Violin is great for blocking and will provide a lot more control than your carbon blades.  See you at the club  -Stan

Danke!!  Great question.  I was actually told that because what I have is the first generation Violin ST paddle, the handle is actually longer than the typical length of the flared handles, so I find the handle size to be fine for me.  I'm still getting used to this Violin paddle though, and right now I still like the hit and feel of my Viscaria S T paddle, Barna Sandwich paddle, and Garaydia ALC paddle better.

Thanks Stan!!  It was great hitting with you at the club yesterday.  I didn't play too well with the Violin, but as you said, it may take multiple sessions for me to get used to that paddle, plus I'm also getting used to the new rubber I was using - the Tenergy 25FX in 1.9 thickness for better control to help with my shaking hand.  I actually would like to hit with your paddle one time to see how it feels, being the fastest defensive style paddle you've hit with.  I'm not a looper though so I don't know if that will make a difference in using your paddle.

Joo Sae Hyuk + Tenergy 05 is faaasst. It loops like an OFF setup but I think most people would find it very head heavy, heavy in general , and hard. Something like Butterfly Korbel or Nittaku Violin would fit your game much better (IMHO) but honestly my opinion here means nothing - it's all about what feels good to you. Stepping down to a non-carbon blade such as your Violin makes sense; it did feel feather-light to me, but if that's what you like - go for it. 

As for the rubber, either 25 or 05 would be fine --honestly they aren't that different when used close to the table. If you liked the softness of the FX version, go for it, just make sure your new setup is 40+ ready.
