I am looking for rubbers with less spin, and very close to the wood.

What is the thinnest rubber that is 1) ITTF legal; 2) More close to the bare wood property?
Other than pips, what is the thinnest inverted rubber that is close to the bare wood property?

I realize the so called hardbat may be the answer (for pips only). They may be also ITTF legal so I will copy the list from hardbat.com.

(hardbat) Approved Hardbat Racket Coverings

  • Leyland ("Hock" rubber)
  • Air Classique
  • Andro Classic
  • Butterfly Orthodox
  • Dunlop Barna Original
  • Friendship RITC "Dr Evil"
  • Gambler Peace Keeper OX
  • ATP Reisman, ATP "Leland Era"
  • Valor Premier
  • TSP Millitall
  • Yasaka A-1-2, A-1, or A2
  • Yasaka Cobalt

I can put any topsheet onto a super thin sponge. It has to have some sponge to be legal if it's pips-in.

For pips out yes, you can put right on the wood. Any legal ittf pip is fine, unless you're trying to play the rare hardbat tournament. That's when you need that list.

Thanks for the classique plug though.

Thanks cole_ely! If you have have any suggestion of a suitable topsheet & super thin sponge combination please let me know. I hope the combination of them is close to the effect of wood. less spin, quite fast, and may be loud. Smile

Finding a thin legal ittf pip is probably easier. I wonder if Butterfly Orthodox is good for this purpose.

Sometimes I am really not like to see rubbers are regulated by ittf etc. This kills a lots of creativity.

Is it true that the ITTF does not approve racket covering?

Not all approved hardbat coverings are ITTF legal.

I suggest Dr Evil, its the lowest friction hardbat rubber I've found. Orthodox is surprisingly grippy for a hardbat rubber

The thing is, innova may have a thin top but I doubt it comes on a sponge below 1.2

Maybe you want 804 on 0.6 sponge?

This is a new idea I never thought about. I assume it will be quite thin and can hear the bare wood when doing a block/push. It probably can be put on a OFF blade like 729 V-6 which I like to use. Please PM me and I will send over the payment. Thanks a lot cole_ely! Smile

Tibhar Super 40 Defense comes with a 0.5mm (or 0.9mm) sponge, that's the thinnest I know off, apart from pimple rubbers.
