To those who have played both, how would you compare a ZJK ALC blade (flared) with a Viscaria? Is it essentially a Viscaria with a bigger handle, or have you found significant differences in feel and speed? Especially interested in your opinion about whether it maintains that great Viscaria balance between power away from the table and touch in the short game. Thanks in advance.

They are very similar.  I have owned two ZJK-ALC FL and two ZJK-ALC ST.  All of them are around 88 gr.  I have owned many many Viscarias over the last decade +.  So probably I have had more experience with these blades than most people.  All of my ZJK-ALCs fall within the range of my Viscarias for pretty much all of the playing properties.  I have had some Viscarias a little slower, some a little faster, some pretty much the same in terms of how they play all in all.  These things are all made of wood so no two are identical even if they are the same model.

To be honest, the only good reason for getting a ZJK-ALC over a Viscaria is if you want a handle in ST since Viscaria has only been sold in FL for a long time and the amount of money people get for old black tag ST ones is insane.

By the way some people may comment that blade X is faster than blade Y (or throws higher or whatever) and they are basing this on just one example of each kind of blade.  Those kinds of comparisons ignore the natural variation that you see within different blades of the same model.

Putting this in more precise statistical terms, the within group variance of either Viscarias or ZJK-ALC seems to me to be equal to the variance between the  groups (when the two blades are compared).

Finally, even if one could establish that there is some real systematic difference between Viscaria and ZJK-ALC, it is so small that you would adjust to it in half a day (or less) and it would have no impact at all on the way you played.

The various ZLC versions are distinctly different in feel, though.  Even then, I would really not have a problem changing from ALC to ZLC or vice versa in a quite short period of t8ime.

Baal summed it up well, and he knows all about BTY ALC blades.

I have ZJK ALC Flared and a TB ALC Straight and its all about handle preference for me.

ZJK ALC does feel just a tiny bit stiffer (less flex) but its so minimal that I disregard it because both blades are stiff due to ALC. I cant tell which one is faster or has more control, its all about the same for me.

I also tried a number of Viscarias in the past and I can say its the same Koto + ALC feeling that I like that all of these blades possess.
Main:
Ovtcharov Innerforce ALC 85g
FH/BH: Glayzer 09C 2.1mm

Chopper:
Stratus Power Defense 85g
FH: Hybrid K3 max
BH: Grass D.TecS 0.9mm

USATT: 1725
