Hey! Do you remember my old thread About my stiga super carbon with stellan b handle? Here it is: http://www.mytabletennis.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=5023&KW=mrt4
And now, its time again! I got an old blade for free at my work today! The rubber was all cracked up so they were going to throw it away. Idiots! I saw the old handle and thought what a waste! The blade had 2 red yasaka rubbers on it. I think there names was "agaton" something, the rubber looked like sh*t! Old, dried and so on. Like last time the sponge was very very hard to get of the blade, it tooked like 2 hours. Finaly i sandpapered the surface a little bit and put 2 layers of varnish on both sides. The blade is a little heavy, its weight is about 95gr. The blade is an old stiga blade, to bad the blue label is damaged. The blue label once said: Kjell Johansson world champion or something like that. Take a look at the nails in the handles ( the red rings) on the 2nd pic. This should mean that it is a pretty old blade right? Wonder how old? Except for the bad label the blade look really good, no cracks or damaged edges or anything. The label in the bottom says: "Godknd av SBTF"= Approved by the swedish table tennis association. Here are some pictures: \R

hey mrt4
1th question
Does the blade has numbers beginning with A, B or C sideward in the middle of the handle?
If not then the blade is before 1974 - If yes the blade is between 1974 and 1976
2th question
If the blade hasn't numbers you have to test the two white lines on the handle.
If they are made from plastic the bat was produced between 1967 - 1969 and it's very rare.
If the white lines are made from wood the blade was produced between 1969 - 1974.
After 1974 the Johansson blades are labeled with allround/offensive/defensive wood on the left and the right side of the head above.
After 1976 - 1986 the handle had a glass inplant above.
If the blade doesn't have numbers I would say that this is one of rare bats with the two plastic lines on the handle.
Hope the infos can help

Hey wawaicetea123
All old Stiga blades are allround blades but faster as todays allround blades. After the middle of the 70s Stiga produced three kind of blades: allround, offensive and defensive. These infos are written at the head of the racket. If there aren't info about the style on the blades you know that a racket was produced before the middle of the 70s. Martin |
